I think it`s true to say that wharever it was when it was new it will not be the same now.
I believe magnatrons loss their power over time.

If it is as old as you say I would think it is only a 750 max, I wouldn't have thought 800 for one minute myself.. As Capney says it is probably much less powerful now anyway.. A very good age though for a micro I would have thought.. :sunny:

I gave my friend an old microwave of mine that I bought in 1982 and he is still using it daily in his works canteen. I believe that is a Hitachi too and its output about 750 wts.

And how they can make it so the next generation breaks 1 day after the guarantee runs out.

About 25 years ago my dad had one that was 1250watts.

I think the thing to note is that a 1250 watter then isn't necessarily more powerful than a modern 800. Remember, technology has moved on now. Things are more efficient. If the old 1250 watter had a 50% efficiency (ie 625 watts equiv) and the 800 watt one had a 90% efficiency (720 watts equivalent), the new 800 watt one would cook the food faster than the older 1250.

In other words, if it works, it doesn't really matter.

The counterfeit Captain Scarlet arch-enemy is the magnatrons. Its a copyright matter. And captain scarlet has been renamed Corporal Bright Red, and Captain Black is now Sergeant Charcoal Grey.
