That's practically the same as what I see Ziggy, I dunno what tabs you mean - I never had any before ????

You don't mean the IE tabs? Which on your screenshot are just to the right of the address box?

I reported this to our IT department at work Ziggy 6 hours ago. They have just got back to me.......... "Have you tried switching it off and on again. If that does not work it's an OEM fault and is beyond the scope of this department . We will now log your error report as finalised, please complete the attached satisfaction questionnaire. " :chicken:

Did you have the AVG stuff at all before? NO=It has just installed itself
You can swap things around on your toolbar if you want them arranged differently - Google toolbar on the left, for example (or turn the AVG one off if you don;t use it and its just wasting space)

If you don;t take control over things that install in your browser toolbar it will soon look like this :heehee: :

" ridiculously big back button too"

I think that's the new version of IE - so that has probably upgraded from 8 to 9 or somesuch.

" not found where the in private button has gone"

      Control + Shift + P any good?

ziggy, when I click on 'new tab' the screen then shows 'In Private Browsing', in small print, below the bottom line.

Click the "Cog / gear" icon, top right, you should have "Safety" in the menu that drops down, and then under that "InPrivate Browsing"

        Happy fishing!

I had an inprivate browsing button on my Google tool bar, but when I went into Options (click on the red wrench to RH side) to see how it was enabled I made a couple of changes whilst there and when I saved them my button had also disappeared.

Besides Shiney's method in above post, you can always select Tools, then InPrivate Browsing from the dropdown list, only I don't see an IE Menu Bar in ziggy's screenshot.

P.S. A good use of InPrivate Browsing is to enable you to get two webmail accounts with the same provider open simultaneously, where otherwise you'd need to close one down before logging onto the other.

The IE9 install does away with that. Progress! You get more "available screen" though ...
