Some of you may recall me mentioning the fishing lake I used to manage/look after in Cheshire where I used to live, well here's a few photos of the place, absolute tranquility; my stepdad still looks after it so I still visit when I'm back in Cheshire (it's like a second home :D)

The place is managed for fishing and wildlife alike, hence there has been as much tree planting, habitat construction and nest boxes put up as there has been fish stocked in the lake.

LOL! Mine aren't too mad on fish although 2 of them like the juice from canned tuna. The spring water kind.

Well, there are, luckily for me, so many lakes, pools and ponds around in Cheshire that even after 30 odd years of fishing I know I haven't fished them all. I must admit I don't recognise this particular lake which looks like at least 20 acres even though I may have fished it. So which one is this lake, Bilbo:scratch:?? If I haven't fished it then I'll find time to this year!!:heehee::D

Hi Armandii, it's called Lymmvale in Marton, near Whitegate; just outside Winsford.

It's just over 6 acres in size, very deep and the water is crystal clear; being spring fed...:dbgrtmb: It's very peaceful (except when the racing is on at Oulton Park; which can be heard), being a mile from the nearest road.

There are some BIG fish in there....the biggest a Catfish weighing 62lb...:rolleyespink:

I still hold the British Record for the Golden Orfe, caught from this lake in 2000..:D

Hi Bilbo, I'm just trying to track the water down but according to my map there's a lot of water in the area, a lot of them unnamed! There's a long narrow one just off Beauty Bank. one near Bradford Wood House, then a collection of five lakes by Newchurch Common, Marton Green has Marton Hole, and the small lake by the Church in Whitegate..........as I said there's a lot of water in that area. Is it signposted?. I believe it belongs to the Lymm Club??

It's a season ticket only I'm afraid, but if you want a look around though at any time I can sort it with my stepdad who still looks after it...it's got a locked gate you see, so he would have to be there (which he is a lot :D)

Thanks, Bilbo, I'll get the garden sorted out and then have a look at the lake. I always have my fishing tackle in a state where I can just pick it up and go, including baits. I do love Cheshire but I have to be honest we haven't anything around here, and I've fished a lot of water around here, to even come close to the Rutland, Peterborough, Cambridge, Leicestershire, Norfolk and Suffolk waters.:(
