Hi Vicky, as you know, I'm pretty ignorant about these things but shall have a guess :)

The "What's New" probably only shows what's really new to you. so if you have just posted the thread isn't new because nobody has posted since you did. I've just had a quick look round and hovered on the arrow by my name and the drop down shows a thing called "Your content" (which you're obviously not :heehee:) and if you click on that it will show you all your own posts.

Hope this helps.

Thanks shiney and A ... I have used the 'hover' method to see what I have done ...:heehee:

... just find it odd that I can't see it straight away and have to go look for it. :dunno:

I like the new software, but having used it for a short while now, I have just one criticism.

The text is just to big, but not just that, its out of proportion to the text on the buttons and menus. It means that if I shrink the text (by pressing CTRL - ) until the text people have posted is comfortable, then the text on the buttons and menus is too small to read. If I press CTRL + to make the buttons and menus readable, then people's posts are so big.

I am a whinge bag at times:)

Clueless, you're not old enough to join the 'Grumpy Old Men's Club' so nobody is going to take much notice of you :heehee:. They don't take any notice of me, either :frown:

I quite like the size of the text - says the myopic old man.

It only shows what you have not yet read. (I guess it is assumed that you have read the post that you have just written!)

On What's New there is an option (top right) : "All Recent Messages" - click that and the list will show you both the ones you have not yet read, and the ones you have (including your own), so if you want to reply to yourself Vicki-no-mates !! then that's how, likewise if you reply to someone and then realise you want to reply again, or re-edit what you wrote - it will be in that list :thumb:

Size of the text came up on the TEST site, and I'm pretty sure the upshot was that RR set it to the same as the old site

Yup, that may well be the case ... I think I've still got a window open on the old site, I'll compare the size if I can

Nope ... old site was:

font: 10pt tahoma, geneva, lucida, 'lucida grande', arial, helvetica, sans-serif;

(or I had my default set to non-standard, but I don't think so)

New site is:

font: 12pt verdana, geneva, lucida, 'lucida grande', arial, helvetica, sans-serif;
line-height: 1.4;

Thank you Kristen. Obviously I have read the post I have just written, before I posted it to confirm it was what I wanted to say (although I may edit it after posting).

In response to your second paragraph, I have ventured into All Recent Messages but as to the remainder of what you say ... :rolleyespink:

I do like the feature that shows my Avatar against posts I have responded to ... :dbgrtmb:

Reply to this (anything will do)

Go to What's New - you can't see THIS thread, right?

Click on "All Recent Messages" - now THIS thread is there (in skinnier / non-Bold font), yes?

Thanks, John, that's back to front to the old system. I can be bold now!! Having said that, I think the old system was less lengthy and simpler!

How was the old way (remind me)?

You can still type "this is bold" if you prefer
