Folklore ?

Never really been convinced about that one to be honest.
When you see cows sitting down, maybe it just means they're tired.

 

Or chewing the cud. I had a labourer who used to do that.

Fat labourer? Surely that's an oxymoron, couldn't have laboured very much then.

 

My mate Paul used to come up and work on my land for mere beer money plus a mars bar and pop. He was an impressive worker, and we could get tremendous amounts done. He weighed in at nearly 18 stone. Then he had a medical, and was told his blood sugar was slightly too high, and so he went on a starvation diet. He now weighs in at about 13 stone, and hasn't done more than an hours work with me in one go since his scare. The moral of the story is this. Fat doesn't always mean lazy, slow or weak, and thin doesn't always mean fit and energetic

Perhaps I was being rather flippant there. Now you mention it, I've known a few people in my time who, while on the large side, could put in a hard days graft.
I stand corrected.
