At the end of the summer last year, I screwed down the automatic openers, and yes the now never open
Err now it is getting to 20c inside during the day

What temp should I get them to open
I have lost the Distructions to them, so far I have had the screw fully clockwise still shut, then fully anticlockwise err still shut

So maybe the temperature needs to be a lot higher to be within the bandings of it opening

    Regards Jack McHammocklashing

You'll have to do it during the day when the temps are higher Jack. My guess is that it would need to be a bit higher than 20 deg C for them to open. Sorry I don't know which way it should be screwed.

I left my alone, Jack. I would have thought they would have stayed shut during the Winter due to where you live.......brrrrrrrr! I wouldn't bother screwing them shut next Winter, just leave them:biggrin:

Until you work it out, you'll need "Ye Olde Fashioned Wedge" Jack - or get a volunteer to stand there with her arm in the air:sofa:

We stayed with some friends in the late Autumn and he was busy removing his from his greenhouse. Said that the instructions said that he needed to do that otherwise the seriously cold weather would muck up the "wax" inside them trying to shrink it to minuscule proportions.

Dunno if they all need that treatment (but you lot never read the DOCs, eh? !!)

          Me? I ain't got them ... I do it by hand. When I remember ... :(

Jack its a bit late now "but if your auto is the same as mine all you do is unscrew the long tube type threaded device and put it away until you want to use the auto device again, the tube in my auto windows contains the wax but you wont see it.
Perhaps if you took the device off the window and placed it under a running tap of hot water! you may just get the wax to work again, its worth a try!:dunno:

If I had half a brain I would have realised that it was hardly likely to open in the winter

I think I did it to keep it clamped shut in the winds

                Cheers all

Ref the auto not opening in the winter Jack! If its a warm winters day the device will still open,

Knowing it would change the temperature in the greenhouse for ever, Ziggy prepared to employ his home made solar powered sucking engine:snork:
