Managed to watch GW yesterday, all is right with the world again lol I find Monty incredibly soporific and calming:)

I'm probably in the minority but I prefer it as half hour slots.

I like it in half hour slots too, but I would like two half hour slots, with an additional one on a Sunday evening when there's bog all else on.

NO NO I want more Carol than Monty I think a poll is about to start :ideaIPB:

I still prefer BeechGrove from Scotland even though I live in Wales , now that programe is for gardeners, not just about who buys " Gardeners World Magazine"

GW has thankfully gone back to basics, real everyday practical gardening with some esoteric stuff thrown in. For a while I think it went totally off the rails and I stopped tuning in - seemed more about fashion and crank ideas, usually pricey.

I've always liked Monty as he seems pretty down to earth (excuse pun!) and Crazy Carol is quite interesting and fun, though sometimes goes completely AWOL and seems to forget that she's on the telly LOL

Can do without Joe, always seems to be flogging some new fad.
Rachel is dull as dishwater, dare I say GW token posh totty?

      Still, good its back.

Hi MJ, actually the season never ends for me as I fish lakes as well as rivers so I can fish throughout the year, ice permitting. I'm betting a record Chub will come out of the River Welland upstream of Stamford. The best I've have out of there are 7lbs 7ozs and 7lbs 14ozs and there's bigger in there I'm sure. My favourite fish has got to be the Tench....a really handsome character and a fighter.

If you can find me, lolimac, you'll be lucky!! We always end up in the most out of the way places, but really beautiful. I sometimes, when popping over to the other friends for a quick coffee and sarny, have to stop just to take in the country side with all the wild flowers. We can in just one day have Deer walking past us, see Foxes, Stoats, King Fishers, snakes and all sorts of wild life.
Barnsdale, because Geoff was always my gardening hero, is a very special place which is still kept in the spirit of his genuine enthusiasm. He never became a TV personality in the sense he went into other areas of TV. He had such a following because of the way he could talk to you as though you were part of his family, and in such a way that after seeing one of his programs you were caught up in his enthusiasm and were out in the garden straight after the program finished.

I quite like Monty. He's his own man and talks to you instead of lecturing you. I don't like all of his garden, but then I'm sure he wouldn't like all of mine!":snork:

Hi, MJ, where I fish on the Welland is narrow [30ft] runs shallow, runs deep, and I fish on a bend where the bank is really under cut beneath you. There's a real mixture of good perch, big Bream, Grayling, Pike, and of course Chub, I caught both on a size 18 with double maggot. They know what to do there as instead of heading to the other bank and weed they go straight into the undercut bank under your feet. So, because the bank is so undercut the fish is behind you, which is a strange feeling when you feel banging into the bank behind you trying to dislodge the hook!! We've had a few adventures there!!:snork:
