I thought I'd start with clearing cookies and see what progress there is. Having only just done that it is faster at the moment, but I'll see how it goes over the next half hour or so. :)

It was fine but has now slowed up, today it has been slow on 3 different pc's all up to date using Linux and win7 and win7 all with firefox even got timed out a few times! This has been at different times between 7.30 and now.
can someone put a bit more coal on the boiler in the celler the server seems to be running out of steam.

On pressing post it took 9 sec to send and I could of made multiple posts.

I installed the updated Java and it was quicker
      ONLY
Very slow loading, if going to page 1 or 2 of a three page thread
Very slow to load and view recent threads/posts or not loading at all and giving the non response from server message, I expect because more than three or four users are trying to access the page
Posting a reply or new thread takes ages, and can be seen in the mulitiple posts of the same message on some of the threads, so they have hit "post reply" again due to the time it has taken

      Initially shows
      http://gardenerscorner.co.uk/forum/threads/very-slow.41381/#post-522072

Then after about a minute shows
      awaiting reply from
      http://gardenerscorner.co.uk which then times out

It is several or more years since I was an active IT Network engineer
but it does appear to be server problems/allocated bandwidth ?

Not my end as no problem with other sites OR my sites, and on 120Mb broadband

      Regards Jack McHammocklashing

Following loading Java & Adobe this morning I've just had the day from Hell.
After accessing GC this morning the site froze on my Laptop. I've spent the rest of the day recovering.
No idea what caused it. I'll see what tomorrow brings. Fingers crossed.gif

Well, the highest download speed I've managed to get is 2.5mg - so everything is fairly slow all the time.

Well, I'm still active today. I'll have to put it down to a glitch.
It wasn't just GC, Shiney. I could only crawl about in Google world. It was yaking about a "Year" to load up any website and, once it eventually accessed - if it did - it was just as slow to move about. Totally impractical.
Funnily enough the Junk emails still came through OK.
I eventually resolved it by turning the AVG settings to High and letting it trawl through the machine.
Nothing was reported, but the problem was resolved. - No idea, but Hey - it worked.

      Lazydog and Jack,

Apparently there were problems with Java yesterday evening anyway. So I'll sit and wait to see what happens this evening. Clearing my cookies helped yesterday, but with Java on the go slow it was difficult to tell exactly what performance was like. :)

Was very slow for me last night too, and I noticed there were very few posts during the [normally] peak hours. Not suite sure what impact Java has - if no one is posting then sounds like server is max'd out to me.

Wasn't just slow last night - I couldn't post and kept getting this:

      GC error.png

The only posts being made were a great stream of 'Gardening News RSS Feeds', so many that's it's the only board I've removed from 'New Posts'. Then I gave up trying.

I was getting that to Scrungee. Only when I hit the Like button though. How strange is that? :)

Now you mention it that's what I got to.

When you press LIKE your browser has to talk to GB's server so that your "count" is recorded, so its the same as making a POST in a sense.
