I don't like them, don't need them, they seem to be taking over the site...
    It looses the personal touch......imho.

If you don't wish to see them, open your user CP, select whats new & tick the box for the news feeds, then select save changes. You'll only see them when you visit that part of the forum then.

            Caught you!!

I honestly thought it would be a good idea to add some gardening news to the site, am seeing what I can do to remove it from being added to the what's new.

I have only ever been to page one of this thread, but it takes me to page 6 and all the way to the bottom, i have never seen this on any forum, can i change it so it will always go to the top of page one? being this site is so slow i have to keep navigating back and forth, also when i mark the page as read, i always get a pop up asking me if i want to mark it as read, i would have thought that was obvious!! i just pressed it to do that, if i needed to do that on the main page, then i will go to the main page and do it, it just slows everything up for me,

Yes I can see the value and I see at least one RSS thread has some replies and some 'likes' on some others, so other members are finding them useful. I feel the same as roders, it's a bit impersonal, but now it's off my 'What's new' list I'm happy :)

On What's New it will take you to the first "unread" post. If you want to go to the beginning of the thread click on the date underneath the Subject (that says something like "Kristen yesterday at 12:34"), you can also hover the mouse over the Subject and get a popup of the first post in the thread (if you want to preview whether you may be interested, or not, before clicking-through)

I think "Mark as Read" is on a Forum List, not a specific post?

If so that clicking that will mark ALL the posts in the whole Forum as Read (which maybe why you say you were taken to Page-6 of a thread when you thought you had't read it). Hence why it asks for confirmation in case you clicked it by accident, as there aint no way back :)

How do you find a thread you have started.
It dont appear in "whats new" or in "watched threads", in fact it dont appear in most places.

After over a week now I'm finding it very difficult to find my way around this site, its confusing and cumbersome, difficult even.

There doesn't seem to be a simple way of looking at the site, you have to keep going back to the main page and start again.

Something is missing, I think the buzz word is "user friendly".

And for the last time, how the hell do I stop keep getting E mails every time someone adds a post.
Its driving me round the bend, I mean I've always liked GC.
But its not the beginning and end of my life.

                Getting totally ****** off now.

                Hi Pete,

To unwatch threads open you user cp and select preferences. Under browsing options you'll see the option to watch or not watch threads, tick & save changes.

Then, you'll have to select watched threads from the menu bar & unwatch the threads that you're watching.

How do I get rid of the bit on the right of my screen under 'my details' where there are links to people's blogs etc which I am not the least bit interested in?

Also, I have tried and tried and tried to get 40 posts up per page but try as I may it never changes from 20 ... :dunno:

I also don't like having to go into Spy to see what I have posted and to edit as I have had to do so now ...
