It's a long shot I know, but can anyone help me identify this plant please? :help:

A load of them have been dumped (some wrapped in bin liners) by the field where I walk my dogs. This one looked as if it still had some life in it, so I thought I'd try to revive it but I have no idea what it is.

It has a bit of a pong to it - can't put my finger on what it smells like though.

Don't think so, just a root system. Would they be small enough to hide in the roots?

Think Chan may be onto something from what I've Googled.

I'm pretty sure cannabis as well, I'd phone the old bill if I were you and get rid of that one but don't mention it:heehee:

I'd NOT phone the old bill, and keep quiet.

Main reason being, you will be suspect no1, should no ones else be avaliable.

I'm not convinced its cannabis. The leaves don't look quite right to me, but then I'm no expert.

However, if it is, or even if it might be, I'd be destroying it asap. Plod are not to be trusted. They are driven by targets rather than fairness. Consider their position, for very little work, they can get another arrest under their belt. Or for a lot of work they can decide it was probably an innocent mistake and let that easy win go.

Not to put a damper on things ... :heehee: ... but it could be a Schefflera elegantisima or something similar ... I believe they shoot from the base and the Marijuana can put it's leaves up anywhere on the stems ... :dunno:

I know ZERO about Cannabis except that C sativa is a wildflower here and an annual whereas the plant merleworld has posted appears to be a shrub and everything coming up from the base, ie, a perennial.

        Just a thought ...:love30:

I will follow this thread with interest ...

The stems in this photo have the same sort of texture and habit as Merleworld's photo. If you reported it and said you'd taken one home - for identification - surely the Plod wouldn't prosecute you?

I personally would never take that gamble. The pay-off for being right is lots of awkward questions and a very public display for the benefit of your neighbours that you are 'known to the police'. The cost of being wrong is time in one of her majesty's hotels./
