When its sunny we like to sit on the patio, looking at the garden (as you do) We also like to have music playing gently in the background, so out comes the radio, and of course you either get bad reception or can't find suitable music.

Step forward the CD player. But often you find the batteries are flat or need re-charging (and not cheap) so out comes the extension lead, then no matter how hard you try it never lays still, always has a "twist" in it that you nearly trip over, this used to happen to us every year, and some times you just "don't feel like it" until that is, this year.

I "compiled a back ground music system" for the house, and then thought why not extend it into the garden, so........

This is "it" Its a radio tuner, ipod docking station, and 100v line amplifier. (oh and microphone, for the fun of it)

This is one of the indoor speakers

This is one of the outside speakers.

This one of the speakers on the other side of the patio.

We had a very sunny day this week, so we "tested it" Works very well and we had the music just its minimum level and having multiple speakers means its not blaring out loud in order to hear it from all the garden, and with an ipod connected to it the sound possibilities are endless, just wondering, wonder if there is a "jungle sounds" mp3.

Yes you could say its abit OTT but it does save a lot of hassle in the long run.
(Yes the outside speakers are weatherproof)

I did say "......... and we had the music just its minimum level and having multiple speakers means its not blaring out loud in order to hear it from all the garden"

Perhaps you would feel better if I had of also said, "its not blaring out loud in order to hear it from all the garden, but we can still hear the kids next door screaming, the neighbour the other side shouting at his kids" But I chose not to mention that part at the time.

At our last house, which was a little terrace with a postage stamp back garden, the old chap next door would often come out and join wife and I for a drink on a warm summers night. He commented several times that it was nice to hear nice but low music in the garden.

Fast forward to last weekend, the first weekend up here its been anything like spring, and everyone is out in the gardens (including me). My mam called round. We got chatting about gardens in general as she lives in a terrace with a yard in town and has been thinking of selling up and moving to the suburbs. I admitted that there are pros, but that she should expect it to be any quieter. She seemed puzzled by this, how could the suburbs not be quieter than the town centre after all. I told her to just pause and listen. There were numerous lawn mowers on the go. Several household producing DIY noises. A cacophony of kids playing (ie shouting and screaming). The neighbours out the back of me getting over excited about their bonfire/barbie. None of it was annoying, but it was noisy. The suburbs are noisy when the weather's nice. I'm sure some light music from one garden is going to bother nobody.

Quiet music ? I find most people under fifty are DEAF and what to them is quiet music is equal to Prodigy live in concert to us/me older people

When I went to see the Beatles in 63 at the local empire they had 30watt Vox amps and it was loud
Now the younger ones go to a concert and anything below 50 Megawatts is poor sound sytems
Jeezo even the dissh sish dsh sish sish sish out of the ear phones is deafening to older people sat on the same bus

Thrown into the mix is the actual MUZAK

Ms Brightman was better in the old days.

However, my background music system is meant to be just that, back ground music.

The first part is before the neighbours kids are out, the next part is the neighbours kids out, and remember I asked "wonder if there is a "jungle sounds" mp3." the answer is yes there is. Not all music has to be loud.

I like both of those tracks too.

Wife finds it odd that I like the thrashiest thrash metal, but also like some classical tunes. The way I look at it is good music doesn't need to be stuck in a box and confined to a genre, its just good for what it is. (I also like some cheesy europop)
