I was down by the pond today clearing out old vegetation and of course I was followed by the cats so that they could supervise. One on them, Jenny, decided to go to the other side where the Bog Garden is and stepping onto a large flat stone missed her step and Splosh she was in the pond!:WINK1: It's around 4' deep there and she vanished under the water. Before I could move she was up and sank her claws into the stone and was out. With a look at me, as though it was my fault, she shot through the Jasmine Hedge to get onto the lawn to sit in the sun and lick herself dry.:cat-kittyandsmiley: How do you lick yourself dry? The last part of her to dry was her tail, I know because all day she'd kept cuddling up to me as she dried out. I presume that's one of her Nine gone!!

From the facial expression, she looks like it's not the first time she's caused trouble.
You'll have to watch her A. She has her eye on you.:loll:

She's like the Raptor in Jurassic Park, lurking in the bushes watching, always testing the fences for any weaknesses to see if she can get out, and if not then ambushing you. Plus being Female she's never wrong and it's the Male's fault.:heehee:

Aaawww poor Jenny. Cats are such vain creatures, when their pride is wounded it's hard for them to handle. One of mine was drinking from the toilet and slipped and went in head first. Talk about a racket!! LOL!! Water everywhere!!!

What gets me is that no matter where you are when these things happen, they look at you as if it was your fault.

Of course it's your fault!:nonofinger: You should have been standing in the pond waiting to help her.

It must have been a shock to both of you and I'm so pleased she's OK

At least she didn't jump into your arms and soak you as well :). Oscar always went straight to Mrs Shiney when anything went wrong. It always appeared to be "mummy will sort things out" :)

Oh dear poor Jenny, glad she's ok, considering what clean creatures they are wonder why they hate water so much :runforhills: .
Just reminded me of the squirrel I disturbed while he was eating nuts from the bird feeder, which is in a tree right beside our pond, he leapt onto the fence surrounding the pond but missed and fell in, I ran to get the net to fish him out but he was pretty quick and jumped out like he was jet propelled, ran up a tree soaking wet making a right racket :heehee:

I think she's "forgiven" me now as today whenever she saw me sitting in the Arbour her tail would go up like a flag pole and she'd come running to sit on the seat with me. She even went trotting along the bank of the bog garden, where she'd fallen in, to watch me feeding the fish. Oh, and yes, the expression on her face does give her away as she's always up to something which ends in a crash, bang or thump as something falls over.

Poor old Jenny! Mind you, cats are much better at coping with water than they let on.

When William was alive, he had a terrible habit of climbing up on the conservatory roof despite having dodgy balance, dodgy eyesight and even dodgier spatial awareness. Often, we'd have to do a rescue attempt (not good, as I don't like ladders or heights and the cat didn't much like being picked up). But on several occasions he simply, well, fell off. My mind would immediately run to vet's bills, but he would simply pick himself up, stare accusingly at the ground and then walk away with as much dignity as a klutz of a cat can muster.

Just reminded me of our Symba Claralou, he jumped from the upstairs window one day straight over my head while I was weeding the border underneath, same as you I thought vets bills,he landed on his feet just shook himself off and walked off.
Didn't know you'd lost William, knew he was ill, so sorry

It is amazing that they don't end up at the vets more often, isn't it?

Yes, sadly we had to have William put to sleep a few weeks back. I was hoping he might die quietly in his sleep, but cancer is rarely like that,is it? Eventually we just couldn't let him suffer any more. A nice vet made a special trip out during her Saturday lunchtime, as we couldn't bear to take him to the surgery. He did live an incredibly long time with his condition, however - longer than most human patients. And he was still hassling us for his favourite treats right up until the last week or so.:)

I'm not sure what life my other cat, Sally is on:

She's only got the one eye and has a leaking saliva gland making a swelling on the left side of her face, all the effects of Cat Flu. I believe the owner of Sally's Mother took the Mother and her 5 kittens to the Vet in Dove Holes in Derbyshire with them all suffering to some degree from Cat Flu. The Vet had, unfortunately, to put the Mother and 3 of the kittens to sleep and Sally had to lose an eye. The owner had no money and left the cats with the Vet who passed them on to the local Cat Rescue Home. I went to buy my brother a cat, he'd recently lost his, and while letting him make his choice, this little furry thing climbed up the chicken wire of it's cage and I swear it was saying to me *buy me, buy me!!".......crazy I know! I remember thinking "It's only got one eye!", I don't remember buying it and taking it home.........but I did!
