Bought myself some chasworth garden delight seeds and one of them plastic standy up greenhouse type things yesterday, would it be ok to start the seeds off now in a little heated propogater ive required and then when established move them to that then eventually into pots to be grown outside, have grown outside toms before but usually buy the ready grown plants from the local boot sale.cheers

You need to keep Tomato plants above 10C ... so it will be a while before they can go outside (even in a polythene mini-growhouse, unless it has some heat). You could bring them in for the night when the temperature will fall below 10C though - they don't nee any light at night, so a utility room / corridor etc. would do.

The seedlings will be a 6 weeks before they are too big for a windowsill I would guess - and perhaps start of May they could be safe in your mini-growhouse, so it won't be much faff doing in-and-out after they get too big for windowsill). I'd give it a go :)

Got some Pink Brandywine myself :blue thumb:
Along with some Christmas Grapes, Bloody Butcher, Gardeners Delight, Roma VF, all seeds sown have germinated well.

i've had mine out in the greenhouse for over a week now. They wilted a bit when we had a frost last saturday but have picked up again well now. Moved them into the top shelf of the blowaway thats inside the greenhouse to stop that happening again.

My seedlings have only just made an appearance, so wont be going outside for a couple of weeks yet. I did rearrange things & put up the blowaway greenhouse ready for their arrival ; it clocked a rather scary max temp of 41'c yesterday (and a min of 4'c, although it was probably colder last night) so Im going to experiment with a couple of old PC case fans + a solar panel to try to keep the temperature down... cant do much about bringing it up at night other than wait

Good idea to check before putting the seedlings inside, they would get fried at that temp Nick. I've got a blowaway inside my glass greenhouse at the moment, today it got to 30 deg C inside the blowaway which is at the limit. Got a heated propagator on a timer in the bottom just to keep the temp a couple of degrees higher than ambient at night.

This sunshine has made a real difference to the plants, the window sill ones are going mental & the outside one has set a fruit, good new growth on it too, mind you, i've been feeding it too.

It must be a very sheltered position. What variety is it Ziggy?

Didn't make you any money then, but you never know your luck, it might turn out to be something (anything) that is tasty.
