An update on the Prayer plant I rescued.

It's come on very well and picked up to a certain degree but a lot of the stems are to heavy to lift themselves. It's now producing new shoots and as they develop I will take off the older ones and have a brand new plant. :)

I will also find it a decent pot to put it in now I know it's going to survive.

I remember this plant in the 60's -'twas right trendy then. At night, it folds up as in a pray position doesn't it? I love plants that do this at night. My Oxalis triangularis "Cupido"does too. I love to hear indoor grown rhubarb shuffling about. AND, the little sensetive plant that folds the moment it's touched. All kids should have a chance to touch one!! Please can you tip toe in a about midnight and take a quick flash photo of it asleep. If it awakens, say that "mad Jenny namaste" told you to do it!!
      thank you

I can remember my mum having a sensitive plant back in the sixties. :) I'm rarely in bed before midnight and when I'm sitting here quietly I can hear the leaves moving. It's a bit spooky really.

I think my plant must be nocturnal :heehee: if you get my meaning, it seems to be more open and upright late evening than during the day.

That a lucky find. Not at all hardy,so it's more of a shock to me that this plant was in as good condition as it was. Your rejuvenative treatment I can see has worked wonders. I like the Maranta/Calethea family of plants.

Thanks Andrew. It now has a lot of new growth so I have cut away all the old growth and have a brand new plant now. :)
