After alot of shouting from my oldie chook May the new girls seem to be settling in ....not too much arguing but ofcourse it's very early days.....One of the newbies is quite cheeky....Poppy...she keeps trying to take on the oldies but soon gets told off...she went to bed first.....Daisy,Willow and violet had to be put to bed....don't think they could stand Mays screaming....all quietly pottering in the run this morning...i'll let them out soon.....just giving Mr Fox a chance to get home from his night out:dbgrtmb:

Glad it went well Lolimac,I still am not able to watch when introducing newbies, they can be so vicious.
I usually double up on food and water containers to give the newcomers a chance and after keeping the newbies quarantined for a couple of weeks introduce them last thing as they are going to roost.

Mrs Scrungee lightly folded some newspaper at bedtime around an 'oldie' who was being difficult with 'newbies' had to be placed on an end of the perch rail - until they soon became the best of friends. Might sound a bit whacky but it worked.

We used to use chicken glasses years ago on the farm to stop them picking on each other, I think they are illegal now:

No it's true, honest. I have one somewhere in the loft as it's such a curiosity, they clipped onto the poor chicken's nose.
