Thanks everyone. Fell asleep due to exhaustion at about 8am and slept through until 2pm, but still throbs like mad!

Anyone had really bad tonsillitis before? Wondering how long I should expect to have these pains for in my ear & glands :frown:

Providing you have been given and are taking the anti biotics, then about 48hours
Buy a tub of quality ICE CREAM for sustinence, and to cool your throat

All my children and grandchildren have had tonsilitis one at a time since the first week in March this year, Julie and I somehow have not picked it up, although caring for the grand kids, whilst mum and dad ill, touch wood, last one was eldest Son in Law, just pain free thursday night

Sucking on ice cubes helps too. Less fattening not as tasty.

I had tonsillitis regularly every few months throughout my training. Spent so much time in sick bay I always wondered how come they didn't make me do extra time to complete. I ended up being put on penicillin tablets twice a day for a whole year! Crazy as it was, seemed to work as I never had it again after that!

But you have my sympathies - people that have never had it really don't know what a ghastly thing it is to have.

          How you feeling now Kyle?

I can't say I've experienced tonsilitis. I don't even think I can, since I found out recently somebody has nicked mine.

I slept from 8-11 tonight, so it's not as bad now. I could have taken painkillers at 10:30 (not the ones the hospital gave me) but I didn't, so shows it's getting less painful.

It's hard to explain the feeling, just like a throbbing headache in my jaw and neck, with sharp pains going down it for about 5 minutes at a time.

Thanks for all your kind words and advice, everyone! :ccheers:

Feeling a bit better now, still taking the tablets because it really aches, but I think I won't feel much throbbing now and should be back to normal soon, I hope :)

Oh, that's not nice, Kyle. I hope you're feeling better by now. I had my tonsils out when I was a kid and the memory of it still sticks [pardon the pun] in my throat.:snork:

Update, this turned out to be toothache.

My wisdom tooth had grown at an angle and cracked one of my teeth next to it.. but it's all fixed now! :blue thumb: (as of last month)
