    Oh thanks for the comments, I'll have to sort out a more recent one sometime.

    Its an Echium Mira, although I can understend why you would say Puya.
    I didn't notice my shirt matched the echium.:dh:

    Yes Cacti, John, but those ones are not hardy, they just spend summer outside.

    I'm not scowling at the camera Victoria, I'm squinting and listening for the timer to click the shutter, lol.

    strongylodon- I don't like to show my pics online, but since I don't want to appear too rude to my fellow gardeners I redirected to a picture taken few months ago.
    I am sorry that I am so old fashioned but that is just how it is.
    pete- I said puya since it genuinely reminded of one of those. Bear in mind that my knowledge of plants is very little and therefore I am bound to get it wrong. I have checked the echium pictures and that is definitely the plant I was referring to - thanks.
