Perhaps I should have mentioned it earlier, but most shops including the national DIY stores will be closed tomorrow. (Easter Sunday)
We see the same thing every year. (I live not far from a big B & Q)

Shops are required to close for 2 days a year - why? - don't ask me, I don't make the rules - but 'convention' dictates they close Christmas Day and one other. Now, as this is still (ostensibly) a Christian country, I can understand them closing on Christmas Day but I've never quite understood the Easter Sunday thing because, if it is on religious grounds, then surely Good Friday would be the 'better' day?

Mr. F'smum has the theory that they only chose Easter Sunday because that's the one day shops only open for 6 hours, (as opposed to 12 or 24 hours the rest of the time), and thus they lose the minimum of trading hours. Not that that will stop loads of cars full of expectant shoppers turning up at supermarkets, shopping centres, DIY sheds, garden centres etc., all expecting the place to be open and annoyed and surprised in equal measure when they find they're not!
