Strange the gall midge affected all your daylilies Palustris :scratch:as Spruce says they usually only affect the early varieties, afraid the only cure is too pick off all affected buds and destroy them (don't put on the compost) you should then prevent the cycle the following year(or at least make it less severe)and gradually you should see a difference.
Desert Icicle is on again for £6.50 buy it now , don't worry I won't be bidding:loll:, just bought a near white spidery ufo from Pollies called 'Heavenly Curls'

Do they grow from seed? If so, are they easy to grow from seed?

      Or tubers?

      cheers :D

Oh yes Kyle you can grow them from seed, have just pricked out 70 seedlings myself :loll:and more in the fridge, they won't come true from seed but you can buy seed for fabulous crosses, there's a link below for a great US site some are expensive but you can get some bargains, do check before bidding that the seller sends to the UK, I got mine from the British Hosta and Hemerocallis society as I'm a member, they send free seed to their members every spring, sent to them from the US.
Very easy from seed you just put the seeds in bags of slightly damp vermiculite in the fridge, usually take 6-8 weeks to germinate, sometimes longer, this year I had some germinate in a week!!!!!, they've done so well had 95% success, then pot on and grow on in warmer conditions, they'll take 2-3 years to flower but who knows if you get something really nice you can register it in your name
When the clumps need dividing they can be split into individual or double fans which is how they are usually sold by specialist sellers or on ebay and are sent bare root with the leaves trimmed, this does no harm to the plant in fact I've had them sent this way in the middle of summer with flower buds and they've just carried on growing and flowered, very tough plants.

Hi Pollie glad your backs a bit better, don't over do it, lifting and splitting those huge clumps are not good for a bad back :nonofinger: , sounds like you've been very busy, have your new ones arrived? is that what you've been planting , I've been busy weeding the rains made all the weeds grow:frown:, keep looking at all the huge clumps that need splitting and wondering where to start , really must get a move on.
I download my pictures from the camera onto the computer and just press upload a file in the middle at the bottom then select which picture I want, seems to work but there is a section on here that explains it, if your pictures are too large etc, heres the link, good luck would love to see some more of your pictures:biggrin:

looks like i've got no chance against you daylillie addicts :). i have a tiny collection of only 5 varieties :frown: but they are planted in large mature groups with complimenting plants :dbgrtmb:, they are american revolution, catherine woodbury, fortunes dearest, gentle shepard and little grapette. simbab let me know which ones you wanted again i forgot been a tad busy:blue thumb: when my little beautys flower i will post pics even though spruce and simbab have a unfair advantage :heehee:

I'll be interested to see pictures of your 'American Revolution' Graham, I'm never sure if mines a 'right' plant on some pictures on the net it has really thin almost spidery nearly black flowers and others it looks completely different:scratch: , its very hard to catch the colour on camera, such a lovely dark red, heres a picture of mine:) but it doesn't show the true colour well, it has a lovely texture like velvet.
