Apart from my Freesias, I plant all my bulbs in large pots which contain shrubs/trees, although I do have some Freesias in pots.

Most of the Freesias are almost finished now, but I am enjoying my first encounter with these beauties which have lots of flower heads developing ...

I also have Puschkinia libanotica (the Striped Squill) which is way behind this year, and Camassia cusickii (the Wild Blue Hyacinth) which is up in it's pot in the shade.

What interesting bulbs do you have?

Vicky, I grew some Scilla many years ago that my parents brought back from their first trip to Madeira. I haven't grown any since, perhaps I should, they are real beauties.

I have yet to plant my Callas, Picasso and Red Fox which have overwintered dry in the greenhouse. Some Gladiolus and more Lily bulbs have just been planted.

I've never really got into growing bulbs in pots other than maybe Hippeastrums.
Some nice flowers Victoria and Longk.

Just seems the most logical way for the tender bulbs - grow 'em, let 'em dry out and then chuck the pot in any frost free place (garage, stair cupboard, attic etc).

With the new place lacking a conservatory but having a cellar I will be moving more towards bulbs and tubers.

I so love growing pots of bulbs.

And this way I also can move pots that are in and out of bloom in my garden .

Muscari is a favourite of mine in pots .

            And scilla .

This year I have pots of tulips,

Which are just now coming into bud.

I have had a problem coming back into this thread so am now trying with Firefox which I am not liking as in Preview it is all over the place ... For the first time this year I have tried Hyacinth multiflora Violet, which suddenly bloomed all at one time so I don't think will last long here ... but it does have a lovely scent ...

My Clivia which I did not think for a moment would come back this year did ...

My Amaryllis are all re-blooming (pictures as and when) but this one is coming back ...

The only ones I have so far been able to keep in the ground are Amaryllis Belladona ...

... Vallota speciosa, the Scarborough Lily which I have had for nearly 30 years now ...

            and Agapanthus ...

Keep your eyes open Loveweeds. In a week or so I'll have a rather special (IMO anyway) Hippeastrum to show off!

Very pretty indeed loveweeds and looking forward to seeing your special one Keith. I have my Hippeastrum in the ground but it didn't bloom last year (it's first) but am hoping it will this. I do love the relative ease of bulbs. I actually have the one Amaryllis in a ceramic pot with no soil.

The sheath is opening on the "special one" to reveal two buds. I can hardly wait!
