I think you might mean Bickerton Castle, Joolz......which is now a restaurant and has been stripped of all historical trappings....shame.:snork:

See where you mean, Joolz:thumbsup::snork: It's Peckforton Castle, but we tend to call it Bickerton Castle and it is a Restaurant, come Receptions and Stop overs. They tried to play up it's historic connections and made it look really like a tacky Theme Park.
Before it was taken over, and was run by the Family, Prince Charles and the like used to stay there.:paladin:

It was built to look as grand as a Castle but really wasn't one. Beeston Castle really was a fortress that overlooked and thereby controlled the whole of the Cheshire plain in the old days. There's a well there that's supposed to have a treasure hidden in the walls but nobody has found it. But the well is as deep as the hill on which it stands, if not deeper.:snork:

            Armandii/Joolz,

Liverpool is approximately 60 miles from the island, that's in land miles not nautical, so Armandii is not that far away. Joolz I wave to Armandii on a clear day. :heehee:

Well, I've got some good friends in Liverpool but it is on the other side of the Manchester Ship Canal for me, probably around 25 - 28 miles away.

Well, it still has Cattle Market sales, not so much horses though, Joolz:snork: There are a lot a stables around Cheshire and you have to drive carefully along the roads around here because you're bound to meet a pair of riders or so coming around a "blind" corner. They also have a ordinary Market on Bank Holidays
