The plea to members to donate seems a bit odd.

It is currently showing that "We're currently 0% of the way to achieving our goal of £50"

Quite a while ago I made a donation vai Pay Pal that ought to have upped the percentage to target by a significant amount but it didn't and the amount raised still showed something like 30% though I can't remember the exact amount.

Now it seems the amount raised has fallen back to zero. Is this a scam or what!!?

We're having problems with the donations bit at the moment Dave, trying to sort it out.

It'll go back to zero at the end of each month as its for monthly costs. Nathan has been having to manually put the donations thru to make it show on the counter.

Hopefully we'll have it sorted soon:dbgrtmb: Thanks for the donation by the way, as they say in Tesco, every Lidl helps:snork:

    Thanks for your reply Ziggy.

If GC is paying £50 per month it seems a bit steep.

No worries Propper Dave, the old V buletin board was about £30 a month but the software was so old the hackers were finding ways in.

If any members use other forums that still use vb, i'd strongly recommend they make sure their password on there is not the same as any they use for banking etc. As it could be hacked now.

The cost of new system software, licences and the cost of "add ons" are not small unfortunately, Dave!!! Me and Ziggy are out there on a street corner with our Banjos and sad eyed dogs every Saturday to try to help.:doggieshmooze:

We take Arbustus sometimes, but he does tend to scare people off.

For the amount of bandwith and CPU resources GC consumes a month we "should" really be on a dedicated server unit (over £150 a month)

£50 is a bargain and its pretty impressive we're able to keep going on a VPS (the amount of guest traffic a month has increased great since our move to xenforo

It is an awful shame, but we can have nothing for nothing these days & GC has kept & helped us through difficult times whether in home garden or mind.. Soo very very good value I think...

I'd no idea that web space had become so expensive, but it's about 7 years since I last ran a dedicated site and that was without most of the facilities offered by the current version of GC.
May I suggest that the plea for funding in the GC Splash Screen is edited to show just what it costs per month to provide this excellent resource for gardeners. It might encourage more contributions.

Seems to be working better now though a shame that finance has to be calculated in US$ rather than sterling or €. Anyway, that's just about cleared out my PayPal account and I'll have to flog something before I can afford further contributions.

                  You're a good man Propper Dave:dbgrtmb:

Nathan is still looking for a Sterling version, but we needed to get something together quickly, as the last app just disapeared:what:

Looks like another option has been found by one of the team :)

Fromt he beginning of next month, I will setup the 'Paypal' Donate box instead, which allows quicker updating of received donations and allows our £ !! :)

Thank you all for the donations.

Up until a little while ago, all funding for GC was coming straight from my pocket, I had been badgered (in a nice way though) by Daisees to open up donations, so you the users could help with the cost of running the site. I wasn't too sure and didn't really like the idea (mainly for reasons of problems like we are experiencing), hopefully we will get all the wrinkles ironed out and normal service can resume.

                  :ThankYou:
