lol unfortunatley we had to pull out because I am a web designer and the internet speed was terrible. I am gutted but we have found another one. Probably be good if the moderator could delete this thread and I will put up the other one after I moved in so I dont mess people around.

    Sorry about that.

That's a shame. At least it was your decision. We lost out on or were gazumped a few times, so we only did planning after we had the keys in our hands after that.

yeah bit gutted but might be fate. Anyhow, rather than waste everybody's time and effort I will hold out and create a new thread when keys are in hand.

Thanks everyone for input so far :)

      it's sad .... thats a lovely place!

but irrespective, my advice will be to first move into a new place, don't be too hasty to plant new things, as you need to check which way the wind blows during the year, if it snows, where does the snow melt first, etc etc

what may seem like an ideal spot to plant a particular plant/tree/shrub now, may be a very bad idea when the seasons change

what one can do in the meantime, is sort the lawn, tidy the borders and add a bit of colour with annuals/perenials ... add losts of compost/manure to the beds and get the soil healthy

after a few months, your ideas will change and you will get a better idea on the growing conditions .... only then, do you start spending big money to change things
