When it comes to music, Gt. Manchester is the greatest area in the world for music, and no one will ever change my mind, ever.

The Smiths, Morrissey, Ian Brown, The Stone Roses, The Verve, The Hollies, The Happy Mondays, Joy Division, HURTS, Swiss Lips, New Order, Take That, Badly Drawn Boy, The Fall, Everything Everything, Starsailor, Simply Red, M People, James, Inspiral Carpets, Oasis, Salford Jets, A Certain Ratio

All Liverpool have are The Beatles, and much of their songs are utter garbage, tbf.

Overall, The Smiths have a better % of songs that are world-class than The Beatles, and anyone who argues about it have just been brainwashed by the media.

Sorry, Kyle, but I've never heard of The Smiths! Or of most of the others you've listed. It's a generation thing :heehee:. Even the Beatles are a bit modern :lunapic 130165696578242 5:

Four young teenage guys who CHANGED THE WHOLE WORLD of music
wrote over 386 songs in three years, none the same
Other bands it is the same tune different words more or less, and changed NOTHING

Not only did THE BEATLES write all their songs many No1s, but wrote for other artists who also took the song to No1

Current lot can not even play an instrument let alone write music or lyrics Will they still be around writing and playing in 2050 nope thought not

I think it's difficult for some to understand their(The Beatles)full impact. Both musically and socially they changed everything, imo. I can't think of a single band/artist that had the run of successive 'hits' that they had. To me, every subsequent release got better and better. It's strange, but it almost seems like their songs are written into our DNA. I sometimes hear some of my young grandchildren singing the odd Beatles tune. It's kinda hard to imagine THEIR grandchildren singing 'Heaven Knows I'm Miserable Now'(The Smiths) I aint knocking The Smiths, but to compare their impact to that of The Beatles?

Sorry Bing and Elvis were good in their time
But they did not change Anything, just good crooners
They never wrote or created anything just sang what others had written for them
Yes they were very good and very popular, but they had no other talent than a voice
The directors dictated what they would sing, according to the current climate, but they did not CHANGE anything

Now whilst I state the BEATLES I seriously believe the real talent lay with George Martin, John Lennon and Paul McCartney

What seriously does MY head in is how Lennon and McCartney who in Lennons case could not even tune a guitar, can suddenly play extraordinary guitar, a Grand Piano, and wind instruments,
I mean as a guitarist, I would need as anyone years of practice to learn to play a piano

The classical greats Beethoven, Chopin, Lizt etc practiced for years and years to play a piano Yet Lennon/McCartey just picked it up in a year ?

Most importantly as I have posted earlier, Lennon/McCartney wrote hundreds of songs, none of which were of the same genere every tune different

Even the greats every tune was just like Jazz the same but played in a different order, same tune same key

The latest batch churned out by Britains got Talent, The Voice or The X Factor are just Karaoke, singing what others WITH talent have written and produced

I did not rate Ringo Starr, for years and years until I watched a you tube vid of a guy who plays along to beatle records, That opened my eyes as to how good he actually was
George Harrison, well his own work was like usual ordinary stars, same same
Until linked up as the Travelling Willburys, when again the music was good, but an amalgamation of five greats in their own right

The BEATLES had it whatever it was they were like the pied piper of Hamilton and stole the kids away
