    yep, deffo black  lol.

    my reasoning is thus:-

through the windows onto the garden from the kitchen (which is black gloss units, white walls and oak worktops with a touch of red) i think the black fencing will tie in nicely??

also, the lounge which is cream, black and aubergine with wooden floor (floor marries in with the decking) also ties in with the house being cream and black.

i think Mr Grinch is right though about the plinths and posts being too much, so i may paint them with the cream sandtex (as i've got some left over from when i did the house. :dancy: am i slightly mad :wub2: or just very brave?? :dunno:

I think you have made the right choice. I think it will look great, especially if you get the evergreen Buxus to go with it
    Nice !

Is there a borderline between the thinking of having the garden as an extension of the house, i.e. deciding to extend the dominant colours in the house into the garden, or still regarding the garden as another "room" but, because of it's very nature, allowing it to have a character of it''s own?
I wouldn't allow the design or colours of, say, the Kitchen,to influence the design or colours in the Bedroom or visa versa. So why would I try to do that in the Garden, when there's no other "room" in the house to compare? Is it an artistic attempt or a modernistic view of taking the house into the garden? I'm not "knocking" it just wondering why we would be influenced by the inside of our houses to extend that into our gardens.:snork: I can see why we would do that with a Conservatory but not with the garden. I suppose it all comes down to whether you design your garden to be a garden or a desire to reflect the inside design of the house. Different strokes for different folks, I guess.:dunno:
My fences are Green as it tends to blend in with the Shrubs, looks natural, and helps create distance.

just like things to "flow". and i think some things, garden inc, should compliment each other rather than shout against. just my take on it. its the ocd in me :dbgrtmb:

Thanks, al, but I thought it was just a curious question that needed a answer:doh::scratch::snork:
For me the garden is an extra room but not one in which I wish to be reminded about, say, the colour, design of my Kitchen or furniture.:dunno: I can't think of any room, nice and comfortable as they are, making me go :hapydancsmil::hapfeet: as many times as my garden does, even during the Winter!!:snork:

lol, i'm in for some stick here, good job i've got thick skin!! :hapydancsmil:

the plinths are getting painted cream, as when i thought about what mr Grinch said, it prob would be too much.
for the posts, i can't decide to go with cream or black.

i can't wait to get it finished as to how i want it, and if i had the money it would be done right away. as it is, i'm picking bits up as and when i can afford it. i've always loved my garden, and spend hours in them at every able opportunity.

things have changed a little over the last 3 years since junior came along, as spending time with him and my wife & getting him sorted is the main priority when i finish work. got another little one due in August, so i need to get it finished by then.

i've always taken an interest in both house and garden since i bought my first house, and it has become a passion of mine. my other main interest is cooking, and if i didn't do the job i do, then i'd be a chef. love it!!

i do like things that flow with others, always have had.
my wife thinks i'm anal about things but the way i look at it is i've never taken things for granted, and i appreciate everything i have both with my family to my job to the house etc... and my take on things is that you look after things, whether material or personal.

having a garden that flows with the rest of the house makes sense to me, but i appreciate others don't think that way. the garden is not a reminder of the rooms in my house, its just got to "gel" not stick out (like it did when i first finished the house and didn't have time nor money to start the garden).

every part of our house makes me go :hapfeet::hapydancsmil: not because its anything special but because its ours, and the little un loves his bedroom and "his" garden! :heehee:

problem is that when you sit in the garden .... you don't see the decor and colour of the kitchen ...

a garden is a special place and should be treated unique

thats the way I see it

with our garden we do *dim*. the inside of the kitchen can be seen from the decking and the garden as the kichen has bi-folds on it, (as does the lounge) and if we're in the garden, chances are, the doors are open, hence the " marriage" of the 3. :sofa: told you i was anal

no probs .... but like I said earlier .... smother the fences with creepers and shrubs, ... plan and plant the garden full .... use the space wisely and you won't see the fence in a couple of years

Naah, al, if you were to get any "stick" on GC it would be gentle and humorous.:heehee: We all have individual tastes and likings and that gets reflected inside and outside the house, and we all garden in different styles and methods. God!!, it would be so boring if we didn't!!
I read your last post with interest and, quite honestly, your enthusiasm for the things you mentioned got through to me. So you enjoy what you do and how you do it, al:thumbsup: I could probably pick up a few good ideas from you so I'll look forward to your future posts.
Different styles and thoughts on gardening and being able to swap ideas is what garden, to me, is all about. Before I first posted pics of my garden I had to think long and hard about it as I wasn't sure if people would like my chaotic, shoulder to shoulder, kind of gardening. I love seeing other peoples gardens and ideas. I might not want to do the same thing in my garden but it doesn't stop me liking it and being inspired by it.
Oh, by the way, all women have the same thoughts of men as your wife!!:lunapic 130165696578242 5:
