In another thread I mentioned I have the pleasure to know someone - a neighbour - who has designed and maintains a lovely garden and is also in possession of the largest collection of rhododendrons for Bulgaria.

A couple of days ago he called me to say that the first wild varieties were already in bloom and I could start my shooting sessions for the season.

The pictures speak for themselves, but I warn you that whatever rhododendrons appear in the frames are not even 1/50 of what is about to follow.

    Enjoy!

Awesome, thank you. Spiritually uplifting. Ain't Mother Nature grand?

          Glad you like it. :dbgrtmb:
However, I went there with my husband and, after looking at me sprawling on the lawn and taking photos, he said he would bring the camera with film 'next time' to make 'real pictures'.
But the best effect of all was that yesterday, looking at our place, he suddenly admitted: Yes, you're right. We have to get rid of these rectangular shapes.

What a lovely garden Angelina. And how lucky you are to have him and know him as a neighbour.

Its clear that there is much more in the garden than Rhododendrons, and I sure that he has a wide knowledge of many different plants. He is someone well worth chatting to - as he will know a lot about what plants will do well in your climate and what won't. Whilst we all love to talk about plants on this forum - we really have very little idea how UK experience relates to Bulgaria.

Is it very sheltered as nothing looks windswept at all. A perfect temperate climate maybe. Not the type of Spring we have experienced here! Such a vibrant mix of colour, thank you

Maybe it's time for the second edition. The pics are about 3 weeks old, but they look just as great. :)

I'll have to get some of that for cuttings:
