Thanks for your input Dave appreciate it. :blue thumb:
I must say, i do LOVE Dahlia's. Im hopefully going to have a few of the cactus types in my border for some late colour. They dont seem to do that well in my garden though as i think the sub soil is a bit too wet for them but will give them a go this year again :blue thumb:

Last year was the first year I grew Dahlia and Chrysanths for over 40 years when I grew them with my Dad. A bit of a memory lane trip.. But it gave me exhibition bug again .
I have purchased some up to date exhibition varieties and just need this weather to pass a warm up so I can get them out ..Still got time yet ..
Yes the Dahlias are great for some late colour and will go on till the frost hits them ..
    Dave

Sun and lots of it. Not a cloud in the sky this AM at 6. Bit more now but nice and warm. Forecast looks like more rain tonight and tomorrow morning.

Ive decided. If i can get these four slabs up without breaking them, then they are coming up. Mr Grinch Snr will be over on Thursday so whilst im at work, i'll ask him to give it a go. Im just not happy with them. If they do come up then its only going to cost £6 in sand and cement to put them back so im biting the bullet.

Lawn still very wet and squelchy, cant walk on it really without churning it up. The standing water has gone but still like the Somme out there. Im so impatient, all this rubbish weather has really put me back.

Did a bit this afternoon but its starting to cloud over
Got the hoe out and did a bit of weeding. Sprayed some persistant bind weed that starting to show. Planted a new plant that i cant remember the name of but its got amazing pink type new foliage. It has yellow flowers in spikes in summer. Then moved the sickly Rhodo. I pruned off the dead stuff, dug it up and re potted in a small tub. No wonder it was strugling. The soil was sooooooooooo wet, i trod on it and i sank 3 inches. That horrible sucking noise when i dug it up. Anyway, it seems happier already. Will feed it during the summer see what its like next year. Not sure whether the Kerala will stick that wet. Will wait and see.

The garden is under water again. I just dont know how the plants in the east border cope. I will by taking out another plant at some point thats not looking at its best. A Photinia Red Robin (cant remember the full name) is being potted up later to go with the Rhodo yesterday. Will find a spot later.
Im remembered the name of that perennial i planted. Lysimachia punctata "Alexander". Looks good. Will see how it goes.

Well, i had the Photinia out. The root was almost non existant. It was barely hanging on, so it came out and into a pot. Will plant some Hornbeam here i think.

Nothing much going on at all. Cannt get onto the grass as its wet and squelchy. The borders are taking off with all this rain and nothing struggling. I really do want to plant my new border at the bottom but cant until the paths are in. Frustrating.
