Lovely, Simbad. It reminds me of Rosa primula, which has a similar habit, ferny leaves and early single yellow flowers. It's sometimes called the 'incense rose', because the leaves smell lovely after shower of rain. (Surely you've got room for another rose!) Then there is 'Lady Penzance', a single coppery pink. It has leaves which have been described as smelling of 'stewed apples'. :)

You're leading me astray ClaraLou:heehee: , you know I'm going to have to go and google 'Lady Penzance' now :wallbanging:
Rosa primula sounds lovely too, must say I do love my roses to have a scent :wub2:

        Lovely photos, everyone :dbgrtmb:

Our base soil is heavy clay but we've gradually turned the top layer into good soil - although it can get pretty soggy lower down.

The battery is running out on my camera but I managed to take these shots before it conked out.

The allium siculum are a bit more advanced than usual

Thank you Shiney. Lovely shots and your kerria is making asuperb statement today.I'm sitting indoors watching ceaseless rain and lots of little birds on the seed feeder. Had pin out and foot dressings removed yesterday so foot is cross today So, gotta take it easy for a bit. Want to get out and cut back forgetmenots which are swamping emergent growth of a hardy fuchsia. Campanula "Kent Belle" is swamping Clematis "Picardy" and weeds are growing faster than the more preferred border edge plants. Gosh, I am finding this grey weather a bit of a trial today.

Some of our Aquilegias, that are ready for sale on Open Day, are starting to bloom. I hope they haven't finished by the time of Open Day.

This is Biedermeyer, which is a multi-coloured one. There is more than one colour on each plant and this is just one plant
          P1120225.JPG

We don't know how each plant is going to flower
          P1120226.JPG

          This is McKana Giant
          P1120227.JPG

None of the Aquilegia Lime Sorbet are in bloom yet (an off-white with a hint of lime, with multiple petals). Our pure white ones aren't in flower yet (can't guarantee the white until we see it) and the Aquilegia Shineyland aren't in bloom yet (these can be any colour and shape as they are the offspring of our very promiscuous plants). :heehee:

The pink tree peony is ready to burst into flower
          P1120228.JPG

and it's covered in about 30 buds
          P1120229.JPG

The new yellow tree peony looks as though it'll put on a good show this year

Jenny, how long will it be before you're back on your feet? It must be so annoying not to be able to get out and do things. I hope you will be up and about pretty soon now that the pin is out. :dbgrtmb:

Behind the kerria is a 6ft high and 5ft wide Choisya that is about to flower (you can just see some of it's leaves in that photo).

re : foot. Long term about a year before body and foot are comfortably realigned but in a couple of months I shall be able to walk for about 20 minutes before it gets cross. Around the garden, I'm just fuffing about and pottering(weather permitting) and you don't notice things like that when you are "at one" with Mother Nature do you? Birds singing, bees, various flowers and leaf forms and their diversity of colours and shapes. Just want to be outdoors.....

Honestly Simbad, it's healed fantastically quickly and I am very lucky to live in the UK, not somewhere like in remotest Nepal. OH and I were up near the Chinese border and watched 2 girls struggle down from a rice field supporting a young boy. His leg and foot were in extreme stages of gangrene and he was very, very poorly. Just because we were white European people they hoped we had medicine that would help or cure him. That scene has stayed with me for many years and whenever my body throws the odd little hissy fit, I try to remember this and remind myself how fortunate I am.

Bilbo, the wild garlic has such a delicate look :blue thumb:

Years ago, when I was looking after someone's large dog, he loved to eat the wild garlic flowers - and then stand on his back legs, put his paws on my shoulders and breathe straight into my face!!!! :doggiesmz: :hate-shocked: Phew! What a pong! :heehee:
