unidentified plant with problem

Hello,

Can any one tell me what my plant is and what might be wrong with it, it's stems have turned black and it is starting to produce leaves of solid colour, rather than variegated?

The foliage looks very healthy. I can't see the plain-coloured leaves in the picture.
The stems may just be turning woody as they mature, so if the foliage is fine and still growing there is probably nothing wrong. The thicker, older stems will develop a darker coloured skin whereas new growth is often a very different colour.

On a variegated plant it is fine to simply cut out any shoots that revert to plain green and it is best to do so as otherwise they begin to dominate as the plant tends to revert to its natural state.

 

I think the plant is euonymus, there are lots of varieties and can't really tell from a photo which your is.

 

Sorry, i snipped most of the plain leaves out and i will continue to do so.

I agree with westwales. It looks like the one in my garden- was there when we moved in. Decided it's probably Euonymus japonicus 'Ovatus Aureus'.

 

As the euonymus is variagated , I would think the plain leaves are where it has reverted back to the plain green form ,It would be best to cut out the plain shoots as they could become more dominant that the variagted .. Not really a major problem.
And the dark stems are as mentioned just an age thing ..
