Hi, I am hopefully going to be able to have a greenhouse (6x6) this spring/summer, with a bit of juggling in my little garden! Has anyone any advice about which one to get? I have seen a bargain one in B&Q! but is it really a bargain??

If you can go bigger i would say bigger.

As anyone will tell you that has a greenhouse its not big enough.

    I now have 2 .

    Good luck.

Mines glass except for the curved bits, those are the panels that blew out in the storms.

        Mine are glass.

But so wish we had build base brick and all wooden like Victorian glasshouse.

Many are putting up polytunnels not so sure on these .

Mind you ,you would not get broken panes of glass.

I don't know which ones are a bargain at the moment but whichever you buy it should come with one roof vent, I'd recommend you buy another one and go for auto-openers (they operate when the temp rises opening the window letting out the heat). With a small greenhouse it can be difficult keeping temperatures low. It's much easier to specify them as options when you first buy the greenhouse rather than retro-fitting. Also go for a side vent as well, that can be manual if your budget is tight.

Also get guttering for it so you can catch rain-water - useful if you are in the hose-pipe ban area.

I prefer glass, but plastic is safer for kids and probably cheaper.

            eBay. I have two, a 12' x 10' cost £200 and a 30' x 10' cost £400 ... both aluminium and glass (and both made by Eden which is a respected brand)

6 x 6 is very small, in the sense that greenhouses that are very small are very difficult to regulate the temperature and tend to get very hot in Summer. If that's all the space you have that it's sure better than no greenhouse !

            Thanks for all your replies!
Sal73, thats what i wanted to have in my greenhouse, a place for the succulents!! I am running out of windowsil space indoors! I have to compete in the garden with daughters rabbits and husband's aviary! as already said better to have a little greenhouse than none at all!
I will have a look at the Eden ones!
Has anyone worked out how to hang plants up in the greenhouse? I would like to have some hanging plants in there, like donkey tail.

if it for succulent mine is perfect except for the ....the acrylic glass , you need double layed glass , my greenhouse has raised bed inside and 2 benches as well , plus the idea of the flat roof was to hanging plants and easy to coverup in case of heavy frost , same story with the snow , if the snow is trapped on the roof will keep constant temperature to 0 c .
If your husband have built an aviary , sure he can buil you a greenhouse , my garden is tiny as well but made the best out of my space an created a garden in the garden , if you put a bench inside as well you can have your little secret garden and spend nice time with your plants
It will cost you more but it will be to your standard and need .
ps I`m collecting frost hardy cactus , I will have some cutting in future , asap i will publish some picture (when ever the weather will allow)
