Native Tree Seed Success

Last autumn I collected and sowed some Sweet Chestnuts, Hazel nuts and some Bird Cherry seed, I've checked the pots today that have been kept in my coldframe all the time and all three are germinating....

 

Nice one Bilbo...not sure id class sweet chestnuts as native myself though

 

I always thought they were?

 

I think alot of people here will say they are, but i personally dont consider them native, they are spanish in my eyes lol

Sweet Chestnut was probably introduced by the Romans, so its been around a while.

Here's the Sweet Chestnuts (just potted up into larger pots today) and the Hazels which are 10-12 inches tall and planted out today;

wow i would have thought they grew slower than that Wsh id started mine now instead of chucking them they would be about the same size now
