Does anybody else use this site, http://www.metoffice.gov.uk/weather/uk/surface_pressure.html

The reason I ask is it appears its all changing.

Any thoughts on the new site? There is a link at the top of each page to the new site.
My initial responses are, the pressure charts are poor, no very poor, compared to the old ones.
And its impossible to work out the rainfall radar as the scroll, doesn't scroll it seems to zoom, a bit like google earth:gaah:
But the main thing is it all takes so long to load up, something of an issue these days for those of us on basic broadband.

I wish the B.B.C. would show us a decent synoptic chart rather than endure these bimbos who cannot tell the difference between a dance routine and a weather forecast. Cheers, Tony.

I found the 'new' monochrome animation difficult to follow, unlike the existing version.

I currently use the Met Office 5 day forecast because the max & min temps for all 5 days are displayed, but when it changes only one day at a time will be visable, not an improvement as far as I'm concerned.

P.S. I previously used the BBC weather forecast until they dumbed it down.

I tend to think we get far too much "nowcasting" and "yesterdaycasting" these days.
When the forecasts start on the TV half of it is about what happened yesterday.

The only "nowcasting" that interests me is the radar showing where it is raining and how its moving.
Other than that I like a good forecast pressure chart map.
I also find the "thickness" lines on the old site very useful.
They are hardly visible on the new site.

Seem to have lost the post I made a few minutes ago. Just agreeing that the new metoffice site is a step backward, I miss the proper rainfall radar, the new animation is a step backward. I use accuweather and weathercast now.

I know a grown man on another forum who used to be the "News Bunny" a huge pink rabbit that ran up and down waving arms in the air behind the newsreader, then he did the Weather :-) I think it was on channel 4 years ago in the mornings

Like John , I use Meteogroup , Weathercast, IMHO the best display of the weather available . Obviously they all use the same data from whoever presents it . But the BBC is depressingly pessimistic , and the Met office presentation is **** not very good . I have found Meteogroup very very accurate for my area . Also if you select an Aegean location in Turkey it makes every day 13 hours of sun at 28°c+ :snork: Seriously just type in your town and give it a try for a week.

We don't need weather forecasts here in Shineyland!

                    Look out the window:-

Sunny - go out in garden
Dull but not too cold - go out in garden
Raining - don't go out in garden
Frosty - don't worry as I have nothing tender out there - don't go out in garden

I'm a fair weather gardener!!! :dbgrtmb: :heehee:

I also use Wunderground which I have always found to be reasonably accurate. I like the fact that you can select several weather stations very close to your actual location.

You can also have a Wunderground desktop gadget which displays a 3 day forecast.... http://www.wunderground.com/download/vista.asp
