4.8°C outside right now, so tonight looks likes the it's going to be far worse than last night, and much worse than forecast.

Been watching the thermometer dropping all evening, down to +3 deg C in the greenhouse so I've just been outside with a torch and covered everything with fleece, I wouldn't be able to sleep otherwise.

0.4°C in the back garden a few minutes ago and there's frost on car roofs at the front. Just checked the weather forecast again and the Met Office reduced the overnight min temperature forecast by 4°C after I went to bed last night.

EDIT: It's now 4.8°C outside, so it's risen 4.4°C in 45 mins. I wonder if it will drop again in an hour or so for a 'double dip'?

UPDATE: It went back down to 2.4°C and it's now 5.6°C. Just goes to show the importance of max/min recording as somebody with a standard thermometer could have checked at slightly different times and thought the temperature never shifted much from around 5°C

Currently +2 degrees here, no frost was forecast for us but I wasn't taking any chances, spuds were covered again last night, especially after it was a clear sky at dusk..

No frost with us either, after I went outside at midnight to cover the spuds the temp stabilised and gradually crept up as the clouds rolled in.

18 deg in the greenhouse now.

Lets hope thats the last cold night.

I lost around fifty tobacco plants. I'm gutted! I've got replacements, but everything is getting pot-bound, difficult to water and I've run out of indoor space.

I moved everything that was hardening off back into the greenhouse 3 days ago and can't move in there now. Plant's are galloping and for the first time I've had to pot on because of the growth.

Lowest temp over these past few days was 4C overnight but I wasn't prepared to take the risk. It's supposed to be 6C minimum tonight, but I'll put them back out tomorrow, temperature permitting. :)

I've just been looking back through my pics of frost damage taken in May last year and it seems that it was as late as the 17th of May when there were overnight/early morning temps of -3°C.
