I have been mysterious cut off from the site and no longer get the daily notifications. Hence my absence!

I have a rather big lawn with plenty of bumps and hollows, which I do not mind.

However 60 percent of it is moss. I have scattered two boxes of weed, feed and moss killer, which seems to be working. New grass is already coming up in the dead moss areas. I know I should now scarify the dead moss, but would that also remove the new grass? The next state presumably to aereate the lwn with a fork but I am not in good health and that might prove difficult.
I have heard about petrol powered scarifiers. Any good? too vicious? Expensive to hire - £36 aday.

Any comments or advice would be appreciated. Mike

Scarifying to get rid of the dead moss will help the new grass shoots establish.

I’ve used an electric lawn scarifier, it’s amazing how much old moss/thatch it gets up. Now would be a good time to do this with temps low and plenty of rain. Once the warmer weather arrives your lawn should take off.

You can get powered lawn aerators too, might be worth thinking about hiring one of those at the same time – get all your jobs done in a day.

Could always try and nuke it. BnQ sell a really good lawn weed n feed for 7 pounds, works great on moss but your lawn mite be the size of a football pitch.....

Just dont buy a propogator oven while you are there :blue thumb:

Thanks for replies. I have already used two boxes of feed, weed and moss killer. Worked well on the moss. Good news: my cousin has loaned me an electric scarifier. Hopefully the rain will stop and I can use it!
