    Hi all

I have got really bad soil in my garden and have therefore have just built three raised beds to try to get over this problem.I now have the problem of filling the raised beds. It's going to cost me a fortune to fill them with compost from local garden centr etc.I did hear that you can sometimes purchase compost from your local council.Unfortunately mine do not sell compost.I'm at a bit of a loss as to what I can do as money is tight and I cannot afford to spend £100s on filling my raised beds.Local builders to me do not seem to sell it either. Can anyone help me please?Do you know where I can buy compost in bulk relatively cheaply?

    :ThankYou:

    Jules

ps sorry for grammar and spelling mistakes.I'm typing this on phone whilst multi tasking :)

Thank you. I very stupidly purchased an expensive compost bin last year.A total waste of money. It is one that you spin and it doesn't seem to have broken anything down to any great effect.

I'm really trying to keep costs down but it looks as though I will be spending a fortune on compost even if I buy in bulk.I really want to get cracking! I was fed up of growing things in pots.

My garden also seems to attract all the pests under the sun so I'm not sure whether I need to get a cloche or some other type of covering for my raised beds.Im going to companion plant as much as I can.

    Thank you for your help.

    Jules

You have not put your Locaton on your info box, so can not point you in the right direction for what you need

You can buy by the Tonne top soil cheaply depending on the quality required, or you can look out for damaged bags at you local SHED, usually available at the end of the montha after stock take

I was in Lidl today and saw their compost (40L for £1.99). One bag was split and it looked OK, so took one. It's pretty good. Less woody bits than Wickes and very crumbly.
