    It looks great :blue thumb:

Shame about the dumb neighbour though. Did he ask you if he could paint his side of the fence (I've read on the garden law forum that if it's your fence he isn't allowed to do anything to it without your permission) and he should have paid for the new gravel boards.

Having said that, my fence posts and gravel boards are painted brown to match the fence panels cos I hate the concrete.

Yes I did know he was going to stain his side (I wanted him, so it was protected). I gave him plenty of opportunities to offer to pay for the new boards, but I'm not going to fall out over twenty quid ... to be honest, he could have been more careful and so on, but he didnt do it on purpose.

So the question is ... how do you go about arranging stuff ?!?

I've got most things in multiples ... the only things I have in singles are things like the magnolia, rose etc

If I have 3 of something, should I group the 3 together, or have the 3 roughly in the same area, or have the 3 completely spread around the border ?!?

I ought to say, progress today has been
                      - finishing off the fence panels, removing the protective plastic
                      - fitting the obelisk properly
                      - removing the ash tree ... someone spent a lot of time on that, but it just didnt fit in
                      - moving the euphorbia (after the ash was gone, they looked daft there)
                      - adding manure and compost to where the euphorbia was
                      - moving lots of pots around !!!

You may notice that as well as the "purple" theme, the secondary theme I'm aiming for here is lime green foliage.

Please point out anything that's a faux pas or going to bite me in the bum !

p.s. missus just came home with loads more smaller plants, which helps fill some of the bare earth

p.p.s. in reserve (too small to put out yet) I've got
                      - pink and white digitalis
                      - lupins (still seedlings)
                      - rudbekkia (sp) (still seedlings)
