it looks absolutely divine - from upstairs and down. A big pat on the back and a cheer:dbgrtmb: is called for. You must feel a bit weary BUT well chuffed! :dbgrtmb:

Len, I bought a (50p) a seedling Rudbekkia from our local Bring and Buy fair in Battle last weekend. Came home and googled it - many types and at different heights! Any clues on the missus's labels?

Sorry to break your heart but the deep blue and purple daisy (can`t rember the name) you both are actually annual , they will dye in winter and come back next year as ugly yellow flower .
Your tread really inspired me , as I was looking to inject some colour in my garden and black and purple is the color I was looking for .this is some of the plants I`ve got
    coleus red dragon

Re three plants. The 'experts' say you should group them in threes, together. It's probably the best way but we just stick things where we feel we want to.

That's almost certainly why we end up moving things - except for the 'dwarf' gladioli last year, which grew to 7ft tall. So we moved them from the front to the back of the border.

The Senetti ? Yes I know, it's not hardy, hence why it's still under cover (except for posing duties), I'll plant it out in a week or two. There's going to be quite a lot of annuals in the border for a couple of years, till things start to fill out. Mind you, I might still have some annuals, its nice to have a change every year, put something different in. Not sure what you mean about it being an ugly yellow flower however, I thought they just died ?

Sorry, let me clarify. The missus brought home some extra plants. I have some annuals coming through. Two unrelated points :) But I will put the names of the plants on here tomorrow, that she bought today.

Cant remember the name of the Rudbeckias, but I'll dig the seed packet out of the shed tomorrow. Suffice to say ... they're purple !

Yes the sonnetti , apparently is a Cineraria Hybrid , managed to overwinter ones , but strangely the year after the flower where actually yellow and not that deep blue anymore , it seams that no one got the secret yet .
totally agree , with annual , without annual gardening would only be cutting and pulling weeds.

I bought home the following plants last night. Nemesia's in purple and white quaintly called Berries and cream, bacopa's in lilac. Purple verbenas. Centaurea Silver Feather and finally some penstemons, one called Czar and the other is a plum coloured one who's name escapes me.
Len is out there now enjoying the weather :D
            Thanks for your welcomes :)

I would suggest some purple ricinus (easy from seed), purple canna and some purple millet or ...to addict high to the border . all sunny lover.

Fully planted up. All I have to do now is
                a) trim up the lawn edge
                b) plant some bulbs I have
                c) change my mind on where I've planted things and move them around lol
                d) plant out some annuals ... digitalis, lupins etc
                e) watch it grow !
