Rain, rain, rain. Then some more rain. On the bright side, forecast looks dry for the next three days.

More birds this year, the Sorbus that i planted last autumn's looking great. All the rest, drowned under water.

Sun !! Wow . The forecast looks dry for the next few days, so a chance for the garden to dry out. A bit windy but that ok for drying.

I will make a start on lifting the remaining turf on Saturday for the paths. Bagging up as i go then taking down to the dump. Today is dry so hopefully it will dry out the place a bit. The grass is growing fast now. Havnt mowed the lawn since March as its been so wet. Once the turf has done then i'll make a start on removing some of the top soil, should be that much but will probabably do this on Tuesday. Then order the Type 1 foundation base for that to go in over the coming weeks.

Sun and warm today. Hurrah !! It was a bit breezy also.

Got loads done today. Im bloomin knackered. Made about 20 trips to the dump, getting rid of this bagged up turf. Started at 9am, finished at 4pm. I dug out all the turf for the remaining paths. A big job done. The standing water seemed to enjoy being released as it ran like a river but seems to be draining away slowly. Next job is to dig a few inches deeper, get rid of that top soil then get some sub base for the paths. Also need to mow the lawn and fill with turf where the stepping stones were. Was hoping to do this Tuesday but guess what.... rain is forecast !!!

I filled in where the stepping stones were with top soil, tread it down then re-seeded with grass seed. Thought about turf but its an extravagance, i had seed in the shed so i used this. I got my calculations wrong a bit so i had to dig another 15cm of turf out at the top path. Bagged it up, ready to be dumped. Cut the grass also.

And i got me tree. Can you guess which ?

Mr G....brilliant choice.....Back to the Buxus.....i've been buying some plants as back up and growing them on....just incase of emergencies....Re chickens and dogs trampleing them....if you're ever short give me a shout

The plan is still to get Buxus around my lawn but given its size, i think it may be on the border side rather than the grass side. Not sure yet but if you have a spare 100 or so, i'll give you a shout

Could you not have used the turf that you have cut out for the new path to fill the old stepping stones?

 

I could have done rusty but its not the best quaity wise and with my clay wet soil its terribley claggy underneath. The turf was dug up rather than stripped off.
Im patient, in a few weeks it will be nice a green.

So, you bought the Vilmorinii Mr. Grinch. A lovely tree and I'm jealous!

 

Certainly did. They only had two so went for the best looking even tree. Still not 100% happy habit wise that i would have liked but im sure when its in and growing it will branch and fill out to be more "tree like".
