My old 6' x 10'6" timber greenhouse is in dire need of replacement (which is why I purchased a 'half price' Botanico 'pop up' greenhouse a while back primarily for a temporary measure during replacement).

    Tesco Direct sell a 6 x 10" aluminium framed one with 2 roof vents http://www.tesco.com/direct/10x6-aluminium-greenhouse-horticulture-glass/207-4323.prd for £369 including base + £3 delivery.

    tesco greenhouse.png

Using a £10 off code gets it down to £362 and by 'doubling up' some £180 of my clubcard vouchers in the current 'Summer Clubcard Exchange' means I'm left with only £2 in cash to pay, but I'll get £3.69 in clubcard vouchers back, and by going through Quidco I can get 3% (£11.16) cashback.

I know it's not an Alton or Halls, but for NIL cash outlay (my favourite price) I get a brand new greenhouse that will slot into the restricted space where my existing one is located straight onto the existing slabbed base. (so please don't suggest waiting for one of that precise size to come up on ebay, together with all the hassle of dismantling/collecting/etc., because I've been looking for ages)

So my question is - has anybody bought one of these? At a guess it's probably similar to unbranded aluminium framed greenhouses sold by by Homebase, B&Q, etc., so if anybody's bought those I'd like to hear what you think of them.

P.S. £459 at B&Q for something similar http://www.diy.com/nav/garden/garde...Effect-Frame-Horticultural-Glass-Base-9218801 although they have occasional 20% off promotions that would bring it down to £367.20 (free delivery)

Or £459 at Homebase, but an extra £99 for a base, and only one roof vent http://www.homebase.co.uk/webapp/wc...reId=10151&partNumber=1726345&alt_cmp=1727368 so £446.40 if purchased during one of their 20% off promotions, but £5.95 delivery.

So Tesco's price for this seems comparable to the best of price from the 'sheds', even when there's a discount weekend.

Does anybody have any adverse comments about these before I commit to buy?

Seems good value Scrungee, I've never even seen one so can't comment on the quality.

        Hi Scrungee,

Im after a greenhouse myself and have been looking on ebay but all too far away etc to buy. Thanks for the heads up i didn't even think of looking at tesco. As you have pointed out with the doubling up of club card points i think i may have a think about the 8x6 Halls one. Although i will have to get the club card points off the missus first :hapydancsmil: . I cannot offer any advice on the greenhouse you are looking at though, but for £2 cash its got to be worth it.

I'm very jealous! I paid over £500 for my halls 6x8 from screwfix and I thought I got myself a good deal then.

You even get glass with it too! For that sort of price I was expecting to see that horrible thin plastic glazing.

It's now been ordered. I was considering getting a 8 x 10 or even a 10 x 12, but those would have cost considerably more, and I would have needed to fell trees (+ get tree works planning consents), extend bases, and carry out some ground levelling.

So for less outlay than the price of a pint I've got my replacement greenhouse and I'm learning to make more use of (heated) greenhouse space by having unheated polytunnels (in addition to loads of coldframes) on my plot, a 180cm x 240cm x 200cm high temporary 'pop up' greenhouse in the garden (which can be heated using Economy 7 and a Gardman heater), and propagators + a grow light box indoors (got plans to increase the size of that next spring).

Delivery is next month, but as my existing greenhouse forms a boundary to our hen run, it's going to be complicated - pic taken from inside my greenhouse:

Whilst not described as a 'Halls' greenhouse, and I've confirmed it's from another company, but I have noticed it's precisely the same dimensions/weight as a 'Halls' one, and wonder if it's another case of identical stuff being produced at the same factory and the sold at vastly different prices/brand names.

Just checked the cost of a Wilkos 6 x 10' aluminium greenhouse complete with base and yet again it's £459.00 (+ £9.95 P&P and it's only got one roof vent) http://www.wilkinsonplus.com/greenhouses/aluminium-glass-greenhouse-6x10ft-with-horti-glass/invt/ed00013/?htxt=PsAGyAqy/DSGVBgOHPBfATKVETOKIWHcwqoICuDrG/xTcDPfxIrYzUvEu76RzzM6wutKTeo9AOCB tDs76aYYKg==. Feel even more confident I made a right decision to get the one posted above.

P.S. If buying from Tesco using a substantial amount of 'double up' vouchers enter any money off codes first before you reduce the cash amount due below the voucher code threshold.

Have a look at the sizes of these and spot the mistakes: http://www.topcashback.co.uk/wilkinson_plus/Product/?&minprice=560&maxprice=700 Some of those sheds would be rather small even for a gerbil http://www.topcashback.co.uk/wilkin.../Traditional_Overlap_Apex_Work_Shed_1ft_x_1ft_ Cor, what a 'bargain':

        wilko shed.png

And those "2 x 2mm" joists sound rather flimsy to me.

Today I received a letter from 'Eden Halls Greenhouses' confirming my order received via Tesco Direct for a Halls Popular 106 (10 x 6') greenhouse and base. So it is a Halls greenhouse I'll be getting for my £2 + my clubcard vouchers. (also available for £509.99 @ Amazon http://www.amazon.co.uk/Halls-Popular-Greenhouse-Horticultural-included/dp/B006V2G8PM )

I've never had an aluminium greenhouse before, so this is going to be something new for me. Do they come in bundles of alumium sections for assembly or do they consist of ready fabricated wall/roof panels ready for erection & glazing?

Rustyroots, the 10 x 6' I ordered is also a Halls (see above), so it's 25% bigger + has an extra roof vent for only £40 more (12% extra). You always need a bigger greenhouse.

I've got a Halls Scrungee...........sorry, you'll have to build it yourself right down to the last nut and bolt! :) The instructions on mine were pretty good though.
