If I tried to make one of them, it would look nothing like a table, so kudos to you and your other half

Thank you for the kind offer longk. Fortunately I have a lot of space to fill, so will try to remember to take up your offer late next month.

Not many dramatic changes to report this month. Apart from I have began the long task of cutting my privet hedge hard back.

I hope this picture taken last July shows how thick and overgrown it had got in certain areas.

This was taken yesterday. I don't think I will be cutting it too far back further down the back of the garden as that's much more manageable than the top of the garden.

Was sad to find though that a few of the stems have started to rot at the bottom and can be pulled quite easily away. Does anyone recognise this problem (picture below)? I'm really hoping it isn't contagious to the rest of the hedge but my neighbour and I have accepted that this part of the hedge may have to go.

I'm no expert on this but it looks like simple old age of those stems. Cut those parts back to just above the new stem and it should regenerate with no problem.

Just finished yesterday the first of my new staging for the greenhouse. Did not cost me a penny to build. Took the original parts from my previous staging which my other half built nearly a year ago....

This is how it looked last year

Nothing wrong with the construction but felt light levels were severely reduced with the solid top. Also with the new potting bench this staging had to be at least be cut in half.

This is the new (first half of the) staging. Used the old legs and supports and just halved them in length. Then used old bits of pallet, ripped them cut to length and mounted on rebates my other half kindly planed into the wood for me.

Took me 7 days from start to finish.

Right, well I haven't updated this thread for a while as I've spent ages cutting back the privet hedge.

Had a bit of a disaster as yet more wall came crashing down a few weeks back. We have now decided to replace the entire wall with fencing. A contractor will be doing the work but wonder how much disruption will be caused to the bed that runs parallel with the wall. My neighbour had to remove the tree next to the wall for access and it was probably the likely cause of the collapse too.

Here's some more flattering shots of the bed. I was hoping to post it up in full flower but thought I would post photos up now in case of damage made by the workmen.

Have been fiddling with my vegetable patch again and have divided the large bed up into 3 sections for better access (which was made from wood from the old pergola which was there when we moved, so it didn't cost me a penny).

I also finished laying the paving and built a second gate so the area has two entrances, so I won't have to turn my wheelbarrow round 180 degrees any more.I planted a pear tree, which I got for my birthday from the in laws in the corner and hope that this will grow over the gate and provide a bit of height with time. Also going to plant a few climbers up the trellis to add a bit more foliage once it painted too.

(Ignore the bench turned on it's side)

I've started planting the gaps in between the slabs and the sides of the beds with herbs and lower growing plants like mint, chives, lobelias, tagetes etc to soften the edges but this will take time to achieve the full effect I'm hoping for. It does look very bare at the moment.

Now for the other half's garden. (Although he has said to me it's not really his garden as I'm doing things without his permission. I then remarked that until he looks after it I will do what I want. Also he doesn't know what he wants)

I found that parts of the lawn I had sown last year haven't done as well as other parts and decided that we would have some bed running along at the front of the workshop. This would connect to the other two beds he currently had (still unplanted) and create a completely curved lawn.

As soon as I put my fork in I discovered why this part of the lawn had suffered. The people who had removed the two garage base had failed to notice the large amount of rubble they had left behind. I'm not talk about little bits and pieces here either. Large sections of brick wall and this bizarre white stuff had to all be dug out by little old me to make the site completely clear so it wouldn't damage my inherited tools. This was back breaking not because of the digging of the rubble but because of the heaviness of the soil at this end.

                      Here's the current carnage

The other half wasn't happy with the step outside his workshop so I decided to extend it outwards. The contents in the shuttering is a small percentage of the stuff I dug out of such a small area.

When I built the second gate for the vegetable garden I also added this trelis to enclose the two areas. I think this shot shows how the other half's garden is more closed off than it was before. I'm hoping the addition of climbers with further this illusion.

Again, the upturned bench isn't permanent

Should also mention I added a port hole in my shed door. Bought it last year for £2 at a boot sale and have only just got round to putting it up.
