Jane it's looking great:dbgrtmb: but what a shame about the wall....wouldn't it be easier to just fix it instead of it all coming down...i'm worried about your lovely border getting damaged when the work is done....

Fantastic, Jane - you've achieved so much. Such a shame about that wall, just as your flower bed was getting into its stride, but at least once the fence is done you'll have a well-behaved boundary!

Such a lot of work digging out all that brick etc - but as a bonus I bet you now have really toned arms!

PS How is your fig tree?

Yes it would be easier to repair the wall but the same thing would only happen again to another pillar. Other pillars still standing I've only just noticed have been poorly repaired in the past. Once it's done I won't have to worry about it any more, in theroy at least.

My fig tree put on a bit of growth last year, but I re potted it late in the season, I'm hoping this year it will put on even more growth once it starts to warm up. I also decided to take the pot it was in out of the ground and sit it in the vegetable garden.

Had to move the bench out the way last weekend to pull the sunken potted fig tree out of the ground. My other half helped me move it so far before he went to work yesterday (in it's normal upright position). Later on I had to move it again as i needed better acess to the compost bin. So on my own decided to move the bench by cart wheeling it around the garden until it was out of the way. But not out of the way in must shots it seems <doh>

The bench is pretty past it and the OH thinks its uncomfortable. I'm trying to work out if I should freecycle it yet or not.

Aw that's touching that you remembered, thank you. I thought you had moved out of that garden and my oppitunity had long since passed though?

Err it is on back to front, ie you open it on the inside for fresh air or to close it to stop the weather getting in, Nice though :-)

Nope - it's the new garden that is riddled with them, and Daylilies etc!

I'am new to gardening Jane but from what I can see you at least need a pat on the back (perhaps several) for all your hard work! Well done you!

Brick garden wall went this Monday and was replaced with a brand new fence in a day. Will post pictures of this once the lot is painted up. :snork:

Meanwhile here's some pictures of the front garden the other half took with the camera.

Plus a few arty shots he took with his new camera lens.

Got a couple of terracotta pots and jugs for free from a person down the road so thought I would tuck a few here and there in the bed to add a bit of interest and depth. Plus the upturned pots make great stepping stones to reach parts of the bed which you can't reach from the edges.

Finally got round to posting shots up of my new fencing that replaced the broken brick wall. Painted the fence green to reflect the colour of the hedge the opposite side.

                        Looks more unified I think

Also planted a new tree. I hope it will divide my larger part of the garden with the OH part. It's an ornamental cherry with white blossom in the spring. Also planted a Jasmine along the fence, that can just be seen behnid the tree, which is smelling wonderfull.

Veg patch has gone a bit mad too.
