Will there be space for filler plants (or the shed even) with a Gunnera in there!

Here's the Gunnera from Oxfords botanic gardens...............

Think twice about the Crocosmia Al n, once you've got it - it'll spread and it's difficult to get rid of. :)

what about some bamboo , to give a bit of high?
ps in the end you went for a tropical border , love it , just check the hardyness
as you don`t want to lose them in winter , sure go for a gunnera , it`s not as invasive as anyone think .
at this point get a couple of cardilynes australis.

looking very good! .... in autumn, you may need to buy some fleece to protect the palms and the treefern

                thanks guys :)

yes, i have space at the rear of the shed for a gunnera. should be no probs as its in partial shade too. i will be adding height in the forms of miscanthus and bamboo's, as well as the t-rex and i'd love to get it all at once, but money restrictions don't allow. part of the fun saving tho :blue thumb:

i had croscomia lucifer in my previous garden and it was beautiful, it wasn't that invasive there (very clay soil) so i might put them in pots (will they be ok this way?) here before i plant them. i also want a few more hostas, eurphorbia and agapanthus. in fact i WANT everything i see!!! :snork::snork::snork:

i still need to paint the fences, so i think i'll pick some paint up on sunday too.

i will be buying some fleece for the dicksonia, and the palms are in their pots still so i'll over winter those in the garage or shed.

                  Al ,
can I give you a really nice tip? Try not to buy everything you see just because you want to fill up your border , commun plants like agapanthus and hosta are really nice and easy so if you go for them try to get new species , I`ve started myself in this way and now i try to get rid off many plants that are too commun and replace them with unsual and most important don`t forget to addict color .

                  black agapanthus

                  jurassic hosta
                  [IMG]
or go adventurous and get some frost hardy cactus as well

was looking to buy some agapanthus, but they were a bit expensive so i'll get some next time i go the garden centres. also, no where had any bananas in, so i'll have to wait until i can pick a couple up.

This looks the same as the one that I've been removing - if so watch it as it seems to spread like billyoo!!
I had one very similar at my old house and as well as being a really nice one it was also well behaved.
                        Another nice well behaved choice!
Gem of a plant in my eyes!
