:smile:Well it's hear again.Gardening dreamland and I for one can't get enough of it,well thats just as well 'cos there is at least two hours a day on the BBC.
What was Carol Klein wearing on the Sunday show?:oopss: fou par(spelling).

What about Duimund Gavins innovative out of this world garden,I certainly think it is very special, but I can't help thinking of the obscene amount of money that it must have cost, although I guess it made a lot of work for people, specially scaffolders lol.
Don't you just love Alex Denman, she is that fresh faced enthusiastic lady running the show.....
I think we can all take something from this gardening extravaganza,so just sit back and enjoy the top end of our wonderful hobby

I saw it :blue thumb: Loved the Plant Explorer's Garden and Furzey Gardens (but then I would because I love Rhodos) :wub2: Think the bloke in that latter was right though that the judges won't like it because apparently Rhodos aren't fashionable (to me if a garden is beautiful, then it's beautiful - I couldn't give a stuff if it's trendy or not).

I like the more traditional gardens - some of the others are more style (if that's what you can call it) over substance, but then I suppose that may be the point.

The Clematis displays were beautiful :wub2:

Don't like Nikki Chapman on it at all.

Ive never liked the Chelsea Garden Show, to me the whole thing is just so contrived and the gardens not realistic. I just cant put it into words really. It just seems all so.... plastic, if you know what i mean. Perhapes not :frown:

Ive never wanted to go there and i cant really watch it on TV. Now visiting proper loved gardens are for me, with an occasional partaire !! :blue thumb:

They do provide inspiration, however contrived. Plus some of the planting, especially Cleve West's, is sublime.

        I presume you mean parterres?:WINK1:

Well whilst I like the RHS SHOW I just do not have the time to watch things on TV
However with your post I went on a visit, just to see Carols faux pas Italian for the English Fword and up :-)

OMG apart from the clothes it would have been an idea if they actually fitted :roflol:

I like peoples dialects but this womans voice grates on me (is she deaf ?) there appears to me something incorrect with the voice

Oh well thanks for the light entertainment

Poor Carol gets a lot of flack for her voice, her giggling etc. and now her clothes, poor thing. I don't have a problem with her, personally, although I can see how she could get up some people's noses.

I watched the coverage this evening (having been away for the weekend) and enjoyed most of what I saw. Chelsea Week is about the only time I'm found in front of the telly on a regular basis, i.e. every night! Well, some people have tennis or footy - I have the Chelsea flower show which I enjoy because it's inspirational, flamboyant, entertaining and a bit of a gardening treat.

Agreed. I don't watch it as much as I used to. The way gardens are discussed like fashionable accessories with must have planting trends in your garden is unnecessary. A garden is for life, not something you can change as quickly as your wardrobe.

Plus my other half hates Alan Titchmarsh

I think Mr. G's got a point - we used to go every year but it became so predictable that it ceased to be interesting. I have photographs from 6 consecutive years where the bonsai stand for example looks exactly the same in all 6 photos.

What has surprised me about this year's show is that Sue Biggs is on there talking about the 'environmental aspects' of the show gardens, the drought and 'drought tolerant' plants and yet everywhere there are thousands of gallons of water - it's in rhylls, cascading down walls, over rocks, you name it, it's there. Environmental? No!

I do wonder if over the years these shows have lost sight of what they were originally designed for. Some gardens such as those with more outdoor furniture than most of us would ever have inside our homes are just completely impractical, either for our climate, or for what some would describe as our postage stamp gardens. It's called Chelsea Flower Show after all - there's a clue in the name! To be fair there are the usual realistic gardens that are a pleasure to see but i do think that the likes of Diarmuid Gavin tend to take things a bit too far for the sake of competition and winning medals, plus the amount of frost protection those Chelsea Pensioners would require doesn't bear thinking about.

That said, i do like to watch, as like most of us here, i love my gardening and i too find inspiration through these televised events. However, i do wish when the cameras are panning the gardens in close up, that they would at least flag up the names of the plants that were looking at so we know what to go out and buy when we get some ideas.

As for presenters, well i suppose they all have something that will get on someones nerves and some more than others. Personally I can't stand Toby Buckland. Carol with her gruff voice grows on you and always gets a light hearted ribbing in my house. My misses loves Chris Beardshaw and i would die for Rachel and Nicki. Good to see Christine Walkden back - what a character. Nice also to see Joe doing something other than testing new gardening gloves and wellies. Don't really know much about Andy Sturgeon so can't comment. It just needs The Don to make up the full Monty, (pardon the puns), gardening Dream Team that Geoff Hamilton would be proud of.

Oh i forgot Alan - hasn't that Pink Silk Shirt had its day now - or was it Blue Silk last year?

Catdragon is going to take me to Chelsea next year for my birthday, weve never been.
