I've put some in the borders but this lot is staying where they are until they respond to a good feed and some hot sun. I've still got to pot up the seedlings that I sowed this year......but I've got other jobs to do first!:coffee:

I've got 19 Canna Indica grown from seed that are now approx 250mm high and in 5" pots, far in excess of my own requirements so was thinking of giving some to a charity sale and selling a few myself for fund raising. As the pots were free, the compost reduced + multisave cost 1p/litre, does £1 each sound reasonable? I want to shift them quickly.

Very reasonable Scrungee; I'd try for around £2 first, you can always drop the price if there's no early interest....:dbgrtmb:

Guys , finally planted my cannas outdoor , but got the same problem as Scrudge , got to many of them , don`t really want to sell them , but will canna cope with dry conditions?
only got space on the dry sunny border or shadow , 3 day of sunshine and already all dry.....but love it.

As far as I know they don't like dry conditions.

No, Cannas like moist, warm conditions, so you're going to have to keep up the watering and feeding, Sal:snork:

I have mine all lined up outside in a sheltered spot for over a week to harden up a touch. They are ready to plant out this weekend , Tropicana from rhizomes, Marabout and Altensteinii from seed :blue thumb: I am also going to plant Nasturtiums in between them to show a bit of colour around their base .
I know Cannas like it moist , but I see them growing in Turkey in very arid conditions - they seem to do fine . Also the ones I raised from rhizomes ( in the 99p buckets !) were grown in a north facing patio window , lots of light but virtually no sun . They showed in 6 to 10 days and are beaming with health :dbgrtmb:

I find they stop growing if they get dry, I'm tending to think growing them in Turkey, Harry, might be a bit different to here.
We get at most four months of outdoor growing conditions, so we need them to keep going all summer,in Turkey they probably get the spring rush, followed by a slow hot summer period then a bit more growth Autumn.
              I'm just guessing

Got mine outside since last Tuesday. It was the one that Pete sent me :ThankYou:
It's growing like mad. If I could sit down long enough I think you could actually see it growing.
The seeds bilbo sent me are a little smaller but they will catch up!

My plants (seed sown this year) are now producing additional shoots either side of the main/original stem - will it be limited to just these 2 extra shoots in the first year, or will there be others?
