Hi, my acer has chunks eaten out of it's large leaves which looks unsightly and I fear for it's wellbeing ! I found what looks like a small beetle with a grey round body which looked hairy !? Could this be the culprit ?
If I can identify it can I eradicate it ?

      I think slugs or snails

dim we should only use chemicals when needed
I grow about 7 diffrent acers its only ever slugs/snails that have eaten the leaves in all the time I have had them two over 20 years

Hi, I havn't seen any slugs or snails on the tree. And as some of the eaten leaves are 6-8ft up I think I might have spotted them.
Gonna try and identify the bug I keep seeing.
