I think it is where people jump off of a quarrys cliff into the water, put because there is alot of rocks in the water etc they do a bit of harm to themself, like may be kill themself
On the news they said that people (lads, mostly) sometimes do it under the influence of 'peer pressure'. I think it's fair to say that if your best mate wants you to jump to what may well be your death, he's not much of a mate. Would you set light to yourself because someone told you to? Would you attempt to swallow bleach because your mate thinks it's a good idea? I think not. I feel sorry for the people who have to try to patch these idiots up afterwards.
I think everyone should be allowed to do this if they want to. Its a free country, there are far too many people living in it and maybe lemmings have the right idea. Seriously, it their life, or death, so just let them get on with it.
Well ...yes ... but someone has to go in, fish 'em out and get them to hospital - assuming they're not dead. And the NHS has to pay. Some have horrific spinal injuries.
Well Strongy, its a case of where do you draw the line? We all do stupid things at times, especially when young.
I think 'tombstoning' is a bit daft, but I'm more bothered about the media seem to have been a bit bored one day, so looked for a non-story to make a big deal about. If we were to pick a really stupid and annoying activity fairly typical of younger adults, especially males, I think it should the following: Take a really rubbish car. One that you really wouldn't want to let your dearest friends or relatives get into, and then as if its not knackered and unroadworthy enough as it is, take off the suspension components that manufacturer's best engineers worked out is right for the car, and put some random bits on instead. Same with the brakes, and then do silly things to the 10 year old burnt out engine. And then, having only just passed the driving test (and therefore demonstrated no more than the most basic skill), get in said car and see how fast you can do a lap of residential neighbourhoods were it is not uncommon for young kids to be playing out. But if we're just looking at 'sporting' activities, how about the following mental activities: * Driving a motorbike at nearly 200 mph round a track with loads of other bikes * Driving a car at over 100 mph off road (rally) * Deliberately making a motorbike launch 50+ ft in the air and flip several times, and even dismount said motorbike, wave at the crowd, and then (if all goes to plan) get back on in time to land safely (freestyle motorcross) * Jump from a perfectly good aircraft and hope a glorified bed sheet will slow you down enough so that on landing, your skull wont smash through your feet.
