As far as IT is concerned, leading edge often = bleeding edge.
    There's always another bug.

    It looks suspiciously Manx! :)

I followed Richard's post with one of my own earlier and it's vanished. This happened yesterday too on another thread.

Doesn't the speed "adjust" over time? - some sort of feedback loop I think. So if you turn it off it reverts to "standard" when it comes back on, then increases the speed if there are no lost packets - a process which I think takes a while - days of uptime possibly?

But I'm with you on skinflint. We can't put wasted energy back in the bottle either :(

1 watt running 24/7/365 is about £1.50 a year ... so IF your router is 100W that's £150 p.a., and if you switch it off 8 hours a night you'll save 1/3rd of that :blue thumb:

I turn the wireless router off when the kids aren't here - they are the only users with their Smartphones and gadgets ...

Kristen, are you saying that my router could be 100W? :hate-shocked:

I don't know much about it, and I've looked all over it to see whether it gives a wattage, but I wouldn't have thought it was more than a few Watts at most!

On the changeover slowdown. I'm patient so I'll put my feet up for a few days :heehee:

<1 second in lieu of 1 minute for 'What's New?' That's more like it!

Should posting, etc. work OK using that temp link? EDIT: Seems to work OK

it should maintain its faster speed, as it has twice the hardware specs of our old machine and 8 cpu cores
