that is the one issue with temp url i believe, it won't allow uploads

once the whole old url (gardenerscorner.co.uk) is on new server then images can upload etc again :)

Some people are complaining about waiting for a few minutes on the old site, but I've just got a message there telling me to wait for nearly 11 hours!

Post after uploading an image on the 'original' site (as it couldn't be done via the temp site link). Resorted to using PB until everything's sorted. Found it rather amusing though.

Yeah, I did put "IF" in caps :)

OTOH I think "< £10" is a bit low. I've looked at their figures and it looks like its a 10W device (they don't say how they measured it, hopefully they used a quality meter because once you get below a few Watts the normal plug-in-a-plug meters are not accurate). Their Electricity rate is 10.857 pence per kilowatt-hour - might be the published rate, but I think including standing charges its more likely to be 13p - 15p (I divide my whole bill by the number of Kilowatt hours - thus including standing charge, and we are a relatively high user :( so the impact of standing charge is less than a lower-use customer)

Its a soapbox of mine. Even £13 to leave your router on is not a lot, but its energy being used when it is not needed (I don't have an answer to that, JWK having his on a timer is one solution, and a home automation system that had an "exit" switch that killed all non-essential devices as you walked out the door, and a "night-time" switch, would be better).

I would like legislation to encourage/force manufacturers to put efficient power supplies in gadgets that are frequently/always on. Apple have something poncy in their transformer-in-a-plug thingie that (I think?) draws no current when the device is not plugged in. "Bricks" for phones etc. that are plugged in the wall draw less than 1W when the phone is disconnected, but "less then 1W * 60M people in the UK" is still a lot of wasted energy. Computers usually have cheap, inefficient, power supplies; manufactures chasing a price point with competitors, so not surprising, hence I think legislation required. It would add pennies to the build cost, and save pounds over the lifetime of the product's use.

By the by, I can no longer post on the gardenerscorner.co.uk domain, I get "Unspecified error" from the AJAX post, and:

    "Oops, something went wrong.
We could not find the route you were looking for. But, maybe we can help.

Navigate through our top menu or contact our team, browse the forums or search for the keywords, to find what you were looking for. Or, start a new discussion by clicking on new thread, and open the conversation :)"

using "reply" at foot of a thread. Its probably just that the name is propagating, but it may catch other people out after they've spent time writing a lengthy post.

I think a lot of peeps may be having problems as there are very few postings today.
