Not areas of my garden, but we call all our plots by the names of the previous tenant's, for example ex-Smith top plot, ex-Smith bottom plot, ex-Jone's plot, etc. as it's a lot easier to remember than plot 2, 13, 17, etc. and we have 7 of them, several of which are between 20 and 40 poles.

An area of our garden is 'under the hollies' and I'm sure that anybody with one of those will know what a dead space that can be.

'Forbidden City': dank area of slum housing for snails. Nothing else survives.

I love that garden, too. I want to go on a trip to Norwich to see it again along with Will Giles' truly amazing tropical garden.

I think the people who own East Ruston would be impervious to a bit of curtain twitching. Last time I was there I bought a ligularia with a totally pornographic description on the label - couldn't resist!

I went on one of their [East Ruson Old Vicarage] "guided tours" a couple of years ago. Alan Grey's language was quite "colourful" so I'm not surprised that the plant labels share that! Very good lunch included - worth doing if you like that sort of thing.

If you doing East Ruston and Will Giles worth having a look (and a buy!) at Urban Jungle (which also has a small show garden) and Amuleree(sp?) exotic plant nurseries. Will Giles (I think) opens his garden on Sunday PM only, and we did his garden and both nurseries as a single outing as they are pretty near each other. (Last Sunday of the year, which meant that there was an end of season sale on at Amulree :) but we were exceptionally lucky with the late Autumn last year :)

We have an area underneath a couple of well established shrubs, not far from the back door, where both our cats always go to....well....'go' as it were.
This is known as the Poo Patch.
This area gets little attention from me other than an occasional bit of very cautious hand weeding. :eeew:

My parents always had a similar patch, which was known as 'Pooh Corner'. They had originally intended to make it into a fragrant rose garden, but our cats had their own ideas about how a garden should smell.
