Shall not be venturing into the garden today. It was bad enough getting soaking wet walking Amber and coming home and giving her a good rub down with a towel. Still we needed this water down here so am quite happy when my water butt is full again I shall want to see the sun again. Mind you they could do with the sun in London for all the celebrations. :doggieshmooze:

I had a large garden job today .... lots of clearing, pruning, weeding and mow the lawn ....

it has not stopped raining, so, another day with no pay, and not sure when I can do that job, as I'm fully booked for the next 2 weeks

I am already bored and my wife is starting to work on my nerves

Yes, Dim no fun if your work is in gardening and you rely on it for your income. I empathise with you and your wife who equally must be fed up with you under her feet too!:)

I love that idea Spruce I really do, however there are a number of factors re the greenhouse, bit of a list so I'm making my way down it. OH is just one of them:WINK1:
cost, I'm too old to rob a bank, plus who would tend my plants:heehee:
DD's, too young to be leaving home, plus they gang up on me:th scifD36:
3 on 1 is not a pretty sight :sofa:
However thank you so much for a right good chuckle on this wet, dull day, bless ya

Too wet to go into garden, so I'm going in the shed with a couple of buckets of water and wash some pots etc for a couple of hours then there's a couple of pints of Guinness with the father in law later this afternoon.

Well, after repairing the guttering yesterday, I still had a ruddy great drip falling repeatedly from about two inches away from the repair! Turns out that the felt on the flat roof is laid over the top of the guttering for about 7 inches, presumably to get the water to run into the gutter rather than drip down - trouble was, after the 7 inch length over the gutter, the edge of the felt then crossed behind it to lie flat against the soffit, and at the point where the felt was crossing over from inside to outside the water was tracking down the underside of the guttering and dripping off.

So, whilst I had the rain to show me what was going on, I trimmed the felt, and then applied a load of polymer weatherproof sealant, which although not pretty (out of sight anyway), seems to have stopped the dripping. Pretty sure I will have to revisit and reseal when its dry though.

Other than that, the only thing I will be doing today is watering a few bits.

Iv'e decided that good old Mother Nature can take on watering responsibilities today. The beef (aitchbone ) is on , the wine's breathing and the Jubbly River pageant is on the box. I think I'll have an indoor day today in me slippers....

just added the ingedients for a batch of compost tea ...

one of my neighbours has an allotment .... gave him a few litres 3 weeks ago ... he says the broadbeans that he used it on are twice the size of the broadbeans he never used it on ... and has asked for another batch ....

he was very sceptical at first, as he is an old 'fashioned gardener' and is set in his ways, but seems that he is changing

Won't be much, just the stuff in the polytunnel and a couple of baskets that are slightly sheltered. Other than that, mother nature doing it suits me fine :)

Your beef sounds nice - we've got hanger steak from our online butcher (cracking stuff delivered frozen right to your door) for tomorrow, and are having chicken today.

Well. that is everything watered - decided not to feed the tomatoes in the hope that a lack of food might provoke them into giving some more flowers, and the baskets were moist enough with the rain.

Those flower bags are going to be a bit of a pain to water, however I haven't tried the bottle adaptor thing that was supplied with them yet, so that could well be the answer.
